Developing Detection Methods for Neurodegenerative Diseases

What happens during neurodegeneration is still a mystery and no promising cure has been introduced for this class of diseases. Moreover, neurodegenerative diseases are usually diagnosed in their late stages which makes the therapeutic methods less effective. We study dynamics of bio-systems in different scales to develop methods of early diagnostic of such diseases. Our focus is on three different levels:

  • Defects in intracellular transport in which we study cargo transport by kinesin motor protein inside neurons.

  • Defects in small neuronal networks.

  • Changes in behavior of model organism (C. elegans) by external stimulus.
