hey - the guys who run CLUI (center for land use interpretation) are coming to the school of art & design next semester, and i was tooling around their website - check out the housings and sound installation equipment they have in these two ssetups:

radio transmissions

also, had a thought about soundscapes - perhaps we will be fine with speakers - BUT if they are too loud, invasive, etc - perhaps we could look at users wearing headphones and recieving the soundscapes via radio transmissions - headphones only use (rechargable) 9-volts and speakers use a lot more power - BUT it will change the dynamic of the experinence - just a thought - may be too complicated and wierd...

When we return from break, we will each bring in 2-3 sketches of each site as we see it and start to nail down some visual dynamics that are interesting to us, to base things around

Carrie will get the domain name www.digitalkami.com (unless its taken, we will figure out another name later if so)

List of materials needs per site – carrie will start this week and email, everyone should put in their 2cents and at our next meeting (Thursday dec 15th 5-7pm at amer’s on state) we will come up with more definitive budget and equipment needs
-also will use this list in terms of how much power we will need to generate and how much of our first and second grocs monies we will hold for equipment

-figure out how the info from the water temperature sensors are output – both in terms of software and in terms of hardware (usb, midi, what?) – if we have the name of the specific device for our list, then we can also research this over break
-also, snre probably will not be able to lend us their water temp sensor equipment, will we need to buy one for ourselves? Research more re; devices, plus can grocs get one for us? Can the entomologist that Linda mentioned loan us one? Rent us one?

Blog will be set up

All will email schedules to carrie to figure out when we can meet next semester – if we are all taking this for a few credits as an independent study, then we should schedule a 3 hour a week “class/studio” time we can all meet and talk thru whats going on, pref. in the grocs lab –

-for mtg on the 15th – all will add to equipment list, plus bring in names & contacts of people to write tore: alt energy sources loans for the spring

carrie will email elona notes to all (plus post the m on the blog)

re: mike’s musical pieces we listened to – (ALSO, can we post these to the blog mike?) – russ talked about making a pile of musical samples, voiceovers and experiments and drawing form them as we need to –
-set up days we can take nice mics into the arb and get some user interviews for this as well -
