The following are examples of online communication and education projects:
- Project director: Fisheries
Learning on the Web developed for K4-8 educators. Technology
focus: The site features many digital graphics, sound, and
downloadable cards and activities.
- Project director: MSG Web site, redesigned in 2005 with improved navigation and several
newcontent areas.Technology focus: CSS style sheets, online library,
non-formal and formal educational content.
- Project director: Break
the Grip of the Rip, beach safety campaign materials,
focusing on rip currents. Brenner, D., LaPorte, E., NOAA-National
Weather Service, National Sea Grant College Program. Technology
focus: development of materials for state-wide, regional
and national public outreach campaign through the development
of a web site, and electronic templates for beach signs, brochures,
illustration, and media information.
- Project director: Michigan
Clean Marina Program, pollution prevention materials and best management practices for marinas. LaPorte, E.,
Brenner, D. Technology
focus: development of web-based content, inlcuding public outreach.
Collaborative Partnership with Michigan Department of Environmental
Quality, Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) and Michigan
Sea Grant. Technology focus: development of materials
for marina training, and public outreach through the development
of a 70-page guidebook, a web site, and pollution prevention tip
sheets for marinas.
- Consultant for the Sturgeon
Spawning Habitat Project, Read, J., LaPorte,
E., Daniels, J., Marsee, T., supported by the Michigan Coastal Management Program,
Michigan Dept. of Environmental Quality, NOAA and Michigan Sea
Grant College Program. Technology focus: development
two educational exhibits about lake sturgeon, on display at the
Detroit Science Center and the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
U-M School of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE).
Technology focus: online communication and outreach. Highlights of work in 2005 include:
- Managed the redesign of the NRE Web site, focusing
on student recruitment materials.
- Developed new identity system and guidelines for use, published online.
- Contributed to digital photo archive for web site and other use.
The following are examples of my technology focus from 1988-2000
University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center (KEC).
Technology focus: Creative director and Web developer for site redesign, including site architecture, implementation and marketing. Primary features of the site development during 1998-2000 include:
- Development of searchable database of eye conditions and diseases
- Web interface for administrative use to update employee information
University of Michigan BMC Media Services (BMC).
Technology focus:Project manager, designer and art director for web development projects focusing on health care research and education. Highlights from 1988-1998 include:
- Development of web design services, including assisting with staff training.
- Acted as technology consultant for software and hardware purchases.
- Provided consulting for web development efforts.
