The VVC

Welcome to the Knights of the Order of the VVC, a new order of knighthood based upon the World Wide Web. As an Order we have no guiding principles, code of chivalry, or oath of brotherhood. So what do we have? A very good question and one that deserves a carefully considered answer.

Basically this Order of Knighthood came out of a very weird mood I held one day while filling out a credit card application. (For those who have not looked over the rest of this page, I am odd in general and this comes from an EXTRA weird day.) While filling out this online application I noted that it had an optional space for "title", so I was about to fill in Mister, but then decided I wanted a new title. Therefore I typed in three random letters, VVC.

From that kernel of strangeness was built this tree of pure weirdness, and with nothing more than a vision and free web space on a server this order was born. Now I must be honest in that it is nothing more then an empty honor, but it still strikes me as being kind of neat to have a title all my own that I created just because I wanted to. However it is twice as much fun if you can spread the strangeness around so that others may take part in it as well. Therefore if you want to take part in this weird joke/prank/general oddness to join the Exhaulted Order of the Knights of the VVC has been made as simple as possible.

In your email signature file simply include one of the following three lines:

Congratulations you are now a member of the Knights of the VVC, and you can revel in all this new title provides you. Well, actually it only provides you with a cryptic message at the end of your emails that will confuse others but for me that is value enough. If anyone asks you what this title means and you deem them worthy of knowing then direct them to this web page, otherwise merely smile at them mysteriously. Of course if they keep pestering you the use of holy wrath might be needed, but I would only recommend that in extreme situations.

So is there some deeper meaing behind all of this? On a surface level no but on a deeper level, no not really. Take it as merely a blow for absurdity and being generally strange in a world hell bent upon making everything in it conform. Take it as a blow aganist stuffiness and mock formality and in favor of taking everything sacred and looking at in a new light. Just do not take it too seriously, because there really is not some deeper secret meaning behind it. Really, seriously, stop reading something into what I've written already.

Oh, and for those who might ask what "VVC" stands for, it does not stand for anything. It really is just three letters at random that sound good when said together. If you have a suggestion though for what it could stand from drop me an email if you like, ejc@umich.edu, and I can make a list of them if I ever get enough suggestions.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this and if you are interested in joining, let me be the first to welcome you,

Greetings fellow Knight of the Order of the VVC!
