Associate Research Scientist
Fisheries Science (NRE 460, ENV 460, Fall semester): The theoretical and practical ecological considerations necessary for management of sport and ocmmercial fisheries are developed. Growth, mortality, reproductive yield, recreational value, the effects of fishing, impacts of environmental factors, interactions among species, and modeling are among topics studied. The emphasis is the ecological basis for management, but economic analyses and water quality also are considered. Offered biennially.
Fish Ecology
(NRE 409, ENV 409, EEB 487, Winter semester): Covers physiological, behavioral,
and numerical responses of fishes to biotic and abiotic factors; the relationship
between fish and the physical, chemical, and biological parameters of major
habitat types; adaptations of fish for survival under different constraints.
