Bailey's arguments hold water. I might be able to accept them a bit more, and not be so mad at her about them if she had put it to me simply that this was something she was going to do, even if I disagreed. I can't stop her from doing much of anything, and I understand this. Instead, she felt it necessary to skulk behind my back. She probably expected that I would never find out about what she had done... Bark. I needed to get away for a while and clear my head, so I parlayed with my Brother and went to find Benedict, wondering which of Bailey or myself would be the first to apologize. Somehow I didn't think it would be her.
Benedict let enough of his preparations leak, allowing me to ride for the Jewel. What I was about to do would probably leave me either dead by Benedict's hands or exiled permanently. Crap. I'll need to make arrangements for Sarah and Bailes. Meanwhile, I picked up a replacement door when I realized where exactly I was headed.
Her name was Sand, and I laid on the shmoove. Basically, she knew what was going on in Amber and with us all. I didn't feel the need to make great pleas -- I just told her that she knew me, and what I was trying to do. She warned me that others wanted the Jewel as well. Naturally. So I wandered about trying to find my competitors.
Anna sat in the gardens. Since we were both guests, I decided not to kill her right then and there, but I still had a lot of fun at her expense. She was expecting the Jewel to be put in her lap. I guess this is going to come down to a a bargaining session, but that's okay, because I'm not leaving empty handed.
The question is, who gets the Jewel first?
