Session 30

Stepping Stone

Having put Bailey to watch my brood for a while, Gen and I started off into Shadow after Luke and Gerard, who were, for some reason, trying their damndest to avoid us. We corkscrewed through Shadow, Gen looking weary many hours later. We found a decent place to camp, and I let her get some rest as I took first watch. I snared me a Jenner sneaking into my camp; Gen woke, and he described to us how his search for Gabriel was equally fruitless. Gen went back to sleep while I posited the question, to Jenner, that I'd given to Gwyn -- concerning what proof could he give that giving back the Eye was necessary?

Again, there were no good answers to those questions. It all comes down to faith -- which I think is a good thing, for the most part, but unfortunately, there are still too many risks. I sighed as I curled up in my cloak, thought of Bailey and fell into sleep.

Turns out, Gabriel was with Luke and Gerard. Jenner was able to send a message to them to meet in San Francisco (which is a HELL of a lot nicer than the one I remember) and there were teary-eyed reunions all around. Unfortunately, that crazy bitch Anna showed up with her own special Wack Bitch Urban Renewal Project and knocked the building down around us, so we fled, in the nick of time, back home.

Bailey was off to visit Ellie, and I had another visitor, anyways. Delauney looked as tired as Gen had. Turns out she's being hunted -- I didn't press the issue, as I know how that feels, and we all have problems right now. She was hesitant to take Sarah in case war came to Amber, but she knew of a safe house my daughter could go to. I thanked her, and gave her my promise of aid one more time.

I found Gwyn and Jenner in the kitchens. Apparently in a moment of non-clarity, Gwyn found her way to Chaos to talk with Church folks there. Imagine my reaction to find she'd been talking with their High Priest -- one Lardoth, gravel-voice companion of Cirophsoph. I sighed. We're headed towards a end here, and so many of the pieces are either shaky or just to untrustworthy. How can we move forward when our path is so uncertain?

Morning comes to Amber after a long night and a grey dawn. But what comes with the light of a new day?
