Griffin
Character Quiz
1) Describe a dream that recurringly plagues your PC.
- A relatively simple one : Griffin finds himself at a performance and
discovers that he cannot remember the words to the song he is to sing;
his fingers fumble across the strings of the mandolin, causing discordant
notes; his audience looks shocked, then bored, then upset, then angry.
Griffin finds himself sitting all alone, with no audience... wanting so
much to play and sing, and not being able to -- and no longer having an
audience anyways. He doesn't have it every other night, but in difficult
times or whatnot, that dream is most likely to be had.
2) What might you, or other PC's, hate about your character?
- Well, if they don't like performance artists, they may have a problem.
Musicians need to practice, of course. People may be bothered, once they
get to know him, that Griffin is a master at playing different roles. He
flip-flops between sincerity and deceit when needed. He's a good man in
all, but probably is a bit too flippant at times. Griffin can brood at
times, especially when thinking about times past. Similar events in the
present can prompt that.
3) What would provoke your PC to kill a shadow-dweller?
- I don't think the idea of Amberites being so much greater than others
will really impact on Griffin even when he learns of it; if some Shadow
person was to do something to piss him off, or to do something that
warranted a killing, they'd get it. Same for anyone else. Now, it takes
quite a bit for Griffin to kill nowadays -- this wasn't always the case.
I suppose if a horrible enough event were to happen, he could snap.
4) How would your PC live day-to-day in a modern 20th century world?
- Wow. Electrical instruments would rock Griffin's world, as well as
the ideas of celebrity and becoming a hyper-super rock star, or just a
celebrity in general. I think he'd adapt to technology pretty handily.
As for attitudes of a modern society, he'd probably find them to be rather
fickle as compared to those he entertains now. I mean, when you barely
eke out a living and only live to be 35, hering some guy in black sing a
song makes your week.
5) Describe your character's sacred item.
- While his magical cloak comes in awfully handy, the most prized
possession is a knife that Claire had possessed. (see backstories)
Griffin actually used said knife to kill the man that killed Claire. He
doesn't use it anymore, but carries it in his cloak; he would be loathe
to lose it. It's the only physical reminder of her that he has.
6) What emotions can your PC express in public?
- Are you kidding? This guy's a bard. And the best thing is that he
could show them all in under 30 seconds. Normally, he's a good natured
fellow, a smile usually on his face.
7) What is your character's voice/accent like?
- I don't know how much it comes across, but I try to sound like Sam
Waterston. Only appropriate. =) (Actually, it's been hard, so far, to
not play this character very close to how I saw playing Justin... but I'm
sure after some time I'll find the voice I want.)
8) What does revenge mean to your PC?
- The one time that he desired it, he got it within 5 minutes (killing
the man who killed his beloved Claire.) I'd expect for as easy-going as
Griffin is, if motivated by a heinous-enough crime against him or someone
he loved, he's be as ruthless as the elders are in the books. It might
take a bit to get to that point (where he'd just want to outright kill
someone at all costs.) I'd think Griffin would be creative in gaining his
vengeance.
9) What is your PC's personal bedroom or suite like, and where?
- Being a bard, he's had no permanent bedroom since he left home in his
teens. All he needs to get along in life fits in the the pockets of his
cloak, and he plays for his room and board.
10) Describe your PC's ideal horse for a long journey.
- He prefers to walk from town to town, but if needed, he'd probably
prefer something along the lines of Old Faithful rather than Young and
Speedy. What are those white/spotted breeds? Appaloosas? (sp) An older
girl who he'd treat kindly. I don't think Griffin's one to ride a mount
into the ground and then just find another one (once he finds one to use
all the time, if that ever happens.)
