In night and dark combined A Shadow walks these halls; He thinks and speaks, walks and talks Yet does not fade with dawn In the face of sun or candle He'll only smile or pause; Tell a story or strum his strings And bask in your applause There is much to do -- The hands and hearts of men are required To plow the fields and build the walls A man must be inspired The instrument behind this -- No matter the state of his mind Need only please the masses And he will be just fine
