The Burden

This great trinket, this scarlet gem
Is the key to commanding the throne of Order
This great ruby, this rounded jewel
Had made men kings and kings into legends

These nine brothers, this great family
Have fallen under the burden of a terrible curse
These great warlords, these sly shadows
Seek any antidote to a return to their homeland

And all of this weighs heavy
On an concerned man's shoulders
As heavy as a dense red crystal
Hiding in dark pockets

This dark bard, this aged traveler
Trying to forget a haunted past
This song weaver, this storyteller
Moving from the shadow of a sinister existence

These four strangers, these chosen few
His companions, each with their own desires
These new wanderers, this uncommon party
Trying to find equilibrium between them

All of this weighs heavy
On a tired man's shoulders
As heavy as the question
On whom to pass Judgement
