Dazed and Confused

Now completely on my own, I was left with the difficult task of showing the ambassadors from that naval nation where we'd procured their boats the castle. This was tougher than it seemed, for there were indeed many areas of the castle that we wouldn't have wanted them to see -- the empty treasury, the many rooms that had been just given up on... and I was relieved to be relieved of duty when Cecily found our group.

The ambassadors were sent of to be given rooms while Cecily told me of Gerard's ignoble end. He was the last link of the old Amber, the Amber of my father and the parents of the others. The restoration of this land was now left solely on our shoulders, since we'd found no way to lift the curse or the return the others without repeating what had happened with Random/Greyson. Both Cecily and I considered this troubling fact as we made our separate ways towards our rooms.

I wanted to go to sleep, but the curious thumping noise on the other side of the wall would keep that from happening, and so I went to investigate. Gerda had rigged a pillow to our adjoining wall and was attacking it most fiercely.

What followed was a difficult conversation, to say the least, since Gerda could not decide between having the conversation frankly or not. So there was a lot of dancing around the issue -- me trying desperately to find out what she was talking about -- and then when she told me that she was pregnant with Fletcher's child I had to try not to say anything that would end up with me being injured. I never was able to get out of Gerda how she actually felt about Fletcher, the child, or the situation other than what society, her mother, Amber, and any other entities other than herself would think of her. Since we were never able to get beyond this, she eventually dismissed me, a fact for which I was thankful.

Plus and also, the banging on the wall stopped, and thus I was actually able overcome my Shadow-lag (as Merlin called it) for once.
