Summer 2013 Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Opportunity

The Duffy Lab is looking for an REU student to participate in a 10-week-long summer research project located at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The exact project is flexible depending on the research interests of the student, but will focus on host-parasite interactions, using Daphnia as a model host. The project will be lab-based, but opportunities to do field research will also be available. Research will be related to Meghan's CAREER award, which focuses on rapid host-parasite evolution and its effects on host invasions.

The student will receive a $5000 stipend for participating in the 10 week program, along with a $1250 housing allowance. The student must be interested in ecology and evolutionary biology, have a strong academic record, and strong references. Students from underrepresented groups and/or primarily undergraduate institutions are particularly encouraged to apply. Students graduating in May 2013 are not eligible for the position.

To apply, please send a CV/resume, unofficial transcript, statement (2-3 paragraphs) of what you hope to gain from this research experience, and the names and contact info for three possible references to duffymeg at umich dot edu. Review of applications will begin on March 25 and will continue until the position is filled.
