If you won a sailboat what would you name it?

The answers (in order recieved):

  • Bob.

  • tockinaboat

  • Either something ironic or moronic. The Money Pit, The Immobile, S.S. Unsinkable (if I wished to test the fates), something along those lines. I'm a bad namer of inanimate objects. And not the greatest namer of *animate* objects, either....

  • I wouldn't name it. I'd sell it and buy a new car or motorcycle instead.

  • Hmmm...I dunno, Cassandra sounds like a good boat name.

  • Turbo, after my puppy!

  • Well, that'd depend on the size of the ship... If it were a little runabout type single-sailed agile little critter, I'd probably name it "Dancer." If it were a big multi-masted galleon I'd call it the "Anna Jane" after my rather formidable grandmother.

  • Jen's Boat

  • bob

  • Nice Kitty Kitty

  • "Red Barchetta", `cuz I'm a stark-raving-mad /2ush fanatic. Either that, or "Wendy." GET IT?!?

  • That Boat I Won And Then Sold On Ebay.

  • FOR SALE

  • Blues in Da Night

  • Excelsior! I don't know why, it just came to me.

  • Confetti, and the sail would look like the background on my webpage: http://studentweb.tulane.edu/~ejensen

  • Greg's Dough-Mein

  • Disco Volante, after the yacht in the James Bond movie, "Thunderball."

  • Belle. It was my grandmother's name, and the daughter that I won't have for another 5 years or so hasn't gotten too attached to it.

  • Miss Phitt. That was the name of my great grandfather's sailboat.

  • If it's a sailboat, Intrepid.

  • Bertie

  • The good ship Lollipop either that or PuckBoat

  • It depends on how I won it. If it was in a casino type thing (giving away boats rather than cars), it would be the Jackpot. If it were in a drawing, it would be the Raffle. If it just showed up on my doorstep, it would be the Ed McMahon

  • The 'S.S. Play With Your Dinghy'

  • Mary Jane

  • mistress - I would be on her more then my wife.

  • Donald Bites

    My answer:

Xena, named after my old tuba (which was named after the TV character). Though I also recently heard that most common name for a boat purchased alst year was "Aquaholic", and that's pretty clever.
