If you could kill one stranger in cold blood, but it would end world hunger forever, would you?

The answers (in order recieved):

  • The logical answer is yes. You would be killing one person and saving several others. However, in reality, I don't know if I could kill a stranger in cold blood.

  • Why not. Wait, do I hafta go to jail, or just deal with the pain and anguish of killing the guy? (Right). Could I jacknife him?

  • Jesus, Donald! You worry me sometimes... Since you'replaying with hypotheticals here, I'd have to say yes under one and only one condition: I am from the distant future where EVERYONE is starving and this person was the cause of it so many moons ago, and I was given orders to go back in time and annihiliate this person before they could ruin the future for the rest of us.

  • Gee, I couldn't just get somebody else to kill him/her? :) Seriously, I don't think I'd be able to do it. Maybe I'd want to, but I'd have a hard time going through with it.

  • Probably. If I get to alter the question that it can be a total stranger but also someone really reprehensible, well, where do I sign, Springboy? But I'd have to be DAMNsure that it would work. Not only that indeed world hunger would be stopped, but that when I went to attack Mr. Hunger- Causing Bastard, I'd actually off him, and not wound him. Because then he'd be a great witness. And try using that ending world hunger thing as a defense. I dare you.

  • Sorry, can't do it. I have a code against killing in cold blood for no reason, and besides, he may end world hunger if he was dead, but he could do so much more alive!

  • No, but I would hire my friend OJ Simpson to do it.

  • No I wouldn't. I have something against killing, no matter what the circumstances.

  • Ummm....a complete stranger? Who I know, like, zero about? And what method of murder would this be? The only way I could possibly do it would have to be poison. I could never shoot, drown, stab, etc. anyone...even still, I'd probably say no. Although it is tempting...but then again, what if the person you kill was destined for something great? Maybe HE would have ended world hunger somehow. So, I guess I'd say no, I couldn't knowingly kill someone I didn't know.

  • nope.

  • Hmm. No. But I have a list of people I would.

  • I guess I'd kill a stranger to end world hunger. Because ya know, the needs of the many overcome the needs of that one person.

  • yeah. I would kill him just cos he looked funny.

  • FUCK YEAH!! but ONE stranger is gonna end world hunger?? haha. what is he.. as big as the GOODYEAR blimp?

  • hypothetically, yes, i'd kill the stranger. the whole greater good thing.

  • Sure, why not, but it doesn't have to be a humane death, does it?

  • No. I do not (and should not) have the authority, moral or otherwise, to make the judgement that some random stranger is worth sacrificing even for a noble cause as world hunger. A similar situation is imprisoning one innocent person to ensure that 10 guilty people get sent to prison. If by my arbitrary act, world hunger is ended but resulted in the death of an innocent person, we have solved one problem, but created a much larger and more fundamental one; that is, the idea that the end justify the means *absolutely*; who will then stop someone from killing me to help *their* goal?

  • Definitely. Weigh the effects of one dead guy vs. millions. But I'd hafta be able to pick the stranger myself. And none of this pluckin' a guy off from atop a belltower mumbo jumbo. You pick up some schlub from off the street, take him into a back alley somewhere and give him the Nicky Santori treatment. God, that sounds too Bill Burroughs for my own good....

  • One man's/women's scarifice is worth the lives of the millions that are hungry...but it's illegal to kill. So I wouldn't! Aren't I a good son of a bitch!!

  • yes i most definatley would one mans life is worth less than the lives of the world.

  • I would do it. It the death of one person could save the lives of many, many more I would do it. I certainly wouldn't like it, but...

"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few"

    A quote Spock

    Don't you feel honored now?

  • Yes i would do it. if i could pick the stranger i would probably kill a woman with really big silicone implant breast to prove a point to me and women everywhere that boobs are on this earth to feed our young just like every other mammal and that the world is going to waste because women are deforming there bodies for the stereotippicall world we live in today.

  • Well. Hmmm. Yes. I do think I would. This would be serving the greater good, and humanity must survive as best as possible, so yes. I would.

  • no way man.

    My answer:

I probably would. I couldn't live with the guilt of having killed all the people who would die of hunger.

Of course, I couldn't live with the guilt of killing a person either, so I'd probably kill myself soon afterwards.
