What is your favorite movie of this decade, and what about it did you like so much?

The answers (in order recieved):

  • For some reason I'd have to say The Crow--it had all the qualities of all the great mindless action flicks of our time, but with something almost resembling intelligence mixed in, plus good music and the best performance of the best action-hero of all time...Brandon Lee rocked numerous worlds.

  • Hmm. I really liked.. uh.. well, I can't think of anything else, so I'll say The Crow. I like lots of movies, but I can't think of any that have come out in the 90s that I went really nuts over. I liked it cause it was cool.

  • Without a doubt, it would have to be The Crow. I don't know what it is about the character that makes me enjoy it so much, but I know that I've always been a fan of the normal person who gets screwed over, and returns to take vengeance. I suppose it also fits into one of my more cynical theories that sometimes the only way to beat an enemy is to sink down to or beneath his level in order to win. Of course, there is always the challenge about rising again, but that is for another question.

  • Movies suck this decade, so we'll go back to when AIRPLANE was on. That is still my fav movie..... and the movies this decade have sucked....

  • Of *this* decade... Hmmm... If you said the 80s I woulda said Raising Arizona for its devil-may-care attitude and the Steadicam work which kicked all the butt that it cared to encounter. In the 90s, well, I like Clerks for its appreciation of the brain dying a little for each day spent in a banal job, but I don't know that I'm ready to name it my favorite yet.

  • Not fair! The decade isn't anywhere near over yet! So far, it would have to be "While You Were Sleeping," since it was the last movie I saw before my two closest friends left for Toledo to spend the rest of their tormented years. I threw fits because the characters were completely hopeless and they laughed at me for it! It rocked :)

  • For the 1990's? A lot of junk movies, but the best (by far) was ED WOOD. Best seen in tandem with the Ed Wood documentary "Look Back in Angora."

  • Labrynth is my personal fav, followed by any movie with tim curry in it, then sean connery.

  • my favorite movie is probably _The Cutting Edge_. I like it because everyone knows figure skating is much cooler than hockey.

  • 12 monkees was pretty damn good. i really enjoy things like that, where part of the movie is trying to figure out what part of the movie you are currently watching.

  • Really tough to say, but what comes to mind now is _JFK_. Not because I'm a fan of Oliver Stone, but because it was a well-done film, even if it did take a few liberties with history. I've been rather interested in the assassination of JFK, and the theories surrounding it, as well as the political climate both before and after the assassination. The film had a good cast, good cinematography, and had some good one-liners. If you ask this question next week, I'd probably have a different answer.

  • Silence of the Lambs--I'm pretty sure it came out sometime in the 90's. It's my absolute favorite because it has everything a movie needs: Gore, intrigue, suspense, humor, and romance. Well, I guess you have to accept the first couple elements into your heart before you can see any humor or romance...

  • Not fair. I can't pick just one. It all depends on the mood I'm in. So instead here are some of my favorites from the 90's: Terminator 2, True Romance, The Shawshank Redemption, Seven, The Fugitive, Unforgiven, and Crimson Tide.

  • There've been a lot of cool movies around. The problem is that I can't really remember most of them; only the ones fresh in my mind. So, I'll say that The Usual Suspects was the best movie I've seen (and remember, considering I just saw it a couple days ago). The ending was the thing that really caught my attention. You might not have seen it, so I won't say any more.

  • Well I think my favorite movie of this decade is Forrest Gump. I liked it because it was different and funny. And I liked the way they broused through the years of history.

  • So far... Hmmm, without thinkin' a whole lot I would Pulp Fiction... I liked it so much because there are a lot of bad asses in it. I like movies with bad asses.

  • POINT OF NO RETURN: just because Bridget Fonda reminds me a lot of a certain ex-girlfriend and I think that movie is a good mix of romantic and tragic.

  • Pulp Fiction - because it was so different from the typical Hollywood schlock.

  • OK, here is an interesting answer, Short Cuts by Robert Altman. I liked the way in which the Carver stories were adapted, and I liked how the construction of the stories led to the central event, it was pretty, well, good for a 90's film.

  • I would have to say that it is a tie between Aladin and Beauty and the Beast. I'm a sucker for a good disney film..and throw in some romance and I'm gone.

  • AHH yes....Pulp fiction was a good one ...especially if you like stories that go out of order, gory deaths, and some lame ass 70's style dancing....That's my pick

  • The Usual Suspects. Why? Because it has a killer plot and besides, any movie with a plot and characters that are this cool just kicks ass.

  • Braveheart. Why? Robert of Bruce. Enough said.

  • well, i assume you mean my favourite movie *made* in this decade. the only one that really stands out in my mind is pulp fiction. it's definitely my favourite judging by the number of times i've seen it, but other people will probably mention movies i liked a lot too.

  • My answer:

Sneakers. A cool cast, some neat lines and a fun plot. Fairly predictable, but a few surprises. Plus James Earl Jones' part at the end rocked.
Oh, and could I have the phone number of the young woman with the Uzi?
