Which is the best of the Star Wars movies, and why?

  • I went to star wars the first week it was out, in hope that I could stay awake for the entire show. I attemted to watch it twice befor and fell asleep both times. I think I'll try for the fourth when it comes out on video. I would have to say "Return of the Jedi" is my favorite one. The Ewoks are just sooooo darn CUTE! (Now that I stayed awake for!)

  • Return of the Jedi.

  • The Ewok Adventure. But those bastards will never make a Special Edition of that, oh, no. Conspiracy, I tell you.

  • I like the second one, because of the chemistry between Leia and Han. Also it is darker and more interesting than the others.

  • All three of them are great!!

  • Empire. It's dark, it was the first movie that I clearly remember seeing in a theater, and I liked Hoth.

  • By far, The Empire Strikes Back is the best. For one thing the bad guys win for a change. It has a kick ass sound track. It has Yoda. The Hoth battle scene is the best. Farm bao gets what's coming to him. I think you really get character development in Empire and really see what happens. It also ties the beginning to the end. Plus it also stands well on its own. Did I mention Hoth, because that is cool too.

  • The Origianal one, because it's the only one I've seen, YET!

  • I love the second one, because it's moderately realistic. The movie ends on a downer; Luke gets his hand cut off, he turns Yoda away, and he finds out that the badass is his dad. I love it!

  • Unfortunately, I've only seen the updated version of the first one; so I'm kinda swinging with my bare ass to the wind with this one. Now, with that vulgarity out of my system, I'd have to say the third one. It has those really cute fuzzy Ewoks in it. There so precious! :)

  • A New Hope...The first, most original of the lot, if you can consider any of it original. Additionally, Darth Vader has no shreads of humanity, and you have to love a villian like that.

  • I'd have to go with Empire...it introduced Fett, it didn't have a totally happy ending, and while the Ewoks in Jedi didn't annoy me as much as they bugged others, they still didn't help.

  • I haven't seen any properly, so I can't say.

  • The first one, because it's the original. The others were after, hence they were based on the first. The first is like a primordial ooze that secretes the life of the other movies. Then again, Return of the Jedi does have Ewoks. Ewoks are pretty neat. I think Return of the Jedi is the best one.

  • The best Star Wars movies is the one you haven't seen 'cause you didn't waste time on it

  • Hmmm, I personally preferred the first two and don't have a favorite amoung them. I think that because I can't stand the ewoks... the third movie totally disappointed me. I wanted total action out of the last movie and all I got were those damn annoying fuzzy things.

  • I personally love Return of the Jedi, because of a) the unparalleled Emperor/Vader/Luke showdown finale, b) the adorable Ewoks singlehandedly defeating the Imperial troops, and c) a final resolution to it all; Han ends up with Leia at last, etc. And Leia looks pretty cool in the Jabba's palace gold bikini outfit. (I want one!) :) Jabba, however, is the low-point of the movie. And, I do also adore Empire and consider it equal if not better; Empire is darker, has the terrific Yoda scenes (I love Yoda!), Han getting frozen, and all the great Han/Leia flirtatious banter going on. Hmm, maybe I *do* prefer Empire after all, actually...Tough call.

  • The first because it was the first. Even the resurgence of Star Trek owes itself to the first Star Wars. And Han shot first in cold blood, dammit!!!

  • Episode IV (the first one) has to be the best, if for no other reason than it could stand alone in an age of what had been robot sharks and "science fiction has to be CLEAN!" The flavor, the feel, the knowledge that there was an entire universe behind the story, a full history, a root to it all. In just over two hours, the original left me saying,"So what happens now? Does the Empire go bankrupt? Where does the rebellion get their fighters? How did Luke come to live with his aunt and uncle? Empire had the feel of a serial (much akin to the Indiana Jones films.... Jedi gave us a cute, everyone's happy now ending. THBBBT!

  • Empire - Does not follow the typical Hollywood plot formula.

    my answer is:

The Empire Stirkes Back. The main reason is that it is as close to a movie where the bad guys win as main stream Hollywood has ever produced. The overall darker feel was also a welcome change.

Other great things about it include: Wedge takes down an AT-AT, which Farm Boy couldn't do in his speader; The debut of Yoda and Boba Fett, two truly cool characters; and, of course, the Imperial March.
