UCDT PROJECT GOALS

1. Create a university-wide introductory sequence in global change

2. Create an upper division, capstone course in earth system science

3. Develop pedagogical tools:

(a) create multimedia laboratory modules

(b) require students to use of the WWW and other Internet Services as learning tools

(c) encourage students to utilize the NSF-sponsored U of M Digital Library

(d) create customized educational CD-ROMS

(e) hands-on experimental and computational components for inquiry-based learning

4. Identify the climate for interdisciplinary teaching at the U of M

5. Enhanced incentives and support for interdisciplinary teaching through the direct participation of deans from several schools

7. Partnership with the 21 colleges and universities participating in the NASA Earth System Science Education Program
