So lately I've been getting told that the results of the election aren't as bad as I think they are. Let's just take a quick review. The GOP increased their House and Senate majorities. I think about 11 states passed discriminatory amendments to their constitution in banning gay marriage. Bush not only won the electoral vote this year, despite starting an unjust war and just being an all around dumbass, also won the popular vote. Now, I seem to remember Spirow Agnew resigning amid suspicion stemming from the Tea Pot Dome scandal (not positive about this but I do know that he did have to resign). How has there been almost no public outcry over the issues regarding the ties between the administration and Enron/Halliburton/...? And don't say that it's because we're in the middle of a war. A, Bush himself said that the war is over. B, Agnew's resignation occurred amid the Vietnam War. For that matter, how has Bush not been brought up on impeachment for continually misleading the American people. Which leads me to what is really pissing me off. 80 something percent of people who believe in moral values voted for Bush. Now this could take awhile. Last I checked, lying is not very moral. Also, Bush isn't exactly the person to look to for morality when you consider he has a drunk driving charge and used cocaine. Also, when he makes such a big deal about his religion, he should at least regularly attend church. Also, how moral is it to judge a person as lesser than you based solely on their sexual orientation( this is what you're doing if you believe they shouldn.t have the same rights as you for marriage) And for my final point, HAVE YOU FUCKING PEOPLE FORGOTTEN ABOUT THIS FUCKING THING CALLED SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE? This is one of the biggest reasons for the founding of this country, to escape the hypocrisy that is inherent in many churches (My own included). Religion should not influence politics. I have no problem with a person making a choice because their religion dictates it but when you force you should never force your beliefs on another person (*cough* IRAQ *cough*). So yeah. I think the election was that bad. That's all I have for my rant for now.
