- Ball at Governor’s Education Summit: Evaluations Should Help Teachers Sharpen Skills
Deborah Loewenberg Ball emphasized that teacher evaluations should be used to improve teaching in the keynote address she delivered at the Governor's Education Summit in East Lansing on April 23. The event featured more than two dozen sessions and speeches from state officials and education experts. Ball chairs the Michigan Council for Educator Effectiveness (MCEE), a group that has been tasked with creating tools to evaluate K-12 educator performance. The MCEE delivered an interim progress report to the Governor, the legislature, the Michigan Department of Education, and the State Board of Education on Friday, April 27.
