- U-M Will Not Boycott Joint Survey of Teacher Education Programs
In a statement that was published in Education Week on February 9, Deborah Ball describes why the University of Michigan will not be boycotting the NCTQ/U.S. News & World Report joint survey of teacher education programs. The plan to review all 1400 U.S. schools of education and publish the findings in U.S. News & World Report has proven controversial and has drawn criticism from education school deans and other education professionals. In the statement, Ball reasons that protesting the study would distract from conversations about how to improve the quality of teacher training.
