Subject: Re: Matilda Seaver
From: "Patricia Seaver"
Dawn,
Elizabeth/Betsy's DoB is from her gravestone, but it is not consistent
with her age as given on census records. Actually, she should be
studied by modern scientists, since she didn't age at all between 1850
and 1860.

Henry Seaver

from Pat Seaver: Williams is "Not documented as s/o Henry & Elizabeth, but “preponderance of the
evidence” suggests that he was...Reasons to believe that William Seaver is s/o Henry & Elizabeth Seaver:
(1) Marriage record of Elizabeth Seaver & James Lamar 1796 Botetourt
establishes Henry (Heinricj) as her father. William Seaver is
bondsman; William Seaver & Jacob Seaver were weitnesses.
(2) Jacob Seaver is said to be a son of Henry in the Jesse Seaver
History.
(3) Both Jacob & William lived and/or owned land in Hawkins, TN,
Sullivan, TN & Scott(Washington) , VA at approximately the same time.
(4) Jacob and William both named children Joseph, William, John,
Susannah, Jeremiah, and Henry.
(5) William died before Nov. 1814. Jacob moved to IN about 1820. When
William’s son Henry’s estate was being settled in 1821 and 1822, court
records indicated that William’s daughter Susannah and son William C.
were living in IN with family.
(6) William’s second wife was Margaret Cleek. Jacob owned land very
near the Cleek/Click family along the Hawkins, TN/Scott, VA border.
Henry Cleek was a witness to a land deal that Wm. made in Sullivan Co.
(7) Esther Seaver’s parents’, George & Mary Crobarger lived in Hawkins
Co. Two or three of Wm’s sons moved to Hawkins Co.
(8) Guardianship record in Washington Co, VA Nov. 1814 for Joseph
Seavers, orphan of William Seavers. Surety $4400 Jacob Seavers."

Jacob (1773-~1824)
Elizabeth (1775-1845)
John (1765-~1805)"

Jacob Seaver

from Pat Seaver:
"Birth: 15 Jan 1773, VA or PA
Death: abt 1824, Switzerland Co, IN
Burial: Patriot, IN 1 mi. west of Concord Church

Jesse Seaver history says that all of Jacob and Esther's children were
born in Switzerland Co., IN. He also says that the family moved to IN
from VA between 1815-1820. These two statements contradict one
another.
Jacob and a family that fits his family's profile is in the Washington
Co, VA 1810 census and in the 1820 census of Scott Co, VA. I therefore
conclude that the first 12 children were born in Scott, VA and only
Greenberry was born after the family moved to IN.
The 1830 Switzerland Co, IN census includes "Hetty Seavers".

John Seaver

"Birth: est 1765-1780, Probably VA
Death: abt 1805, Probaby VA
Wills of Hawkins County, TN
Will of Edward Cross 21 July 1791 witnessed by John Seaver
Dr. Charles Severs says that John Seavers married a woman named
Susannah, sired a son Lemuel. One tradition says that this John
Seavers died when Lemuel was young; another says he went west and
disappeared.
William Seavers (BILBAROO@aol.com) says that John was born about 1770
and died about 1835, as per a paper written by James Kendall, a
great-grandson of Lemuel Seaver. John had married Susannah
(Croberger?). She and Lemuel and perhaps another child came to IN with
Jacob and his family in 1820. She later married a John Bradshaw, also
from Scott, VA, and they returned to TN. The other child may have been
named Silas; land deed to Silas W. Sever in Switzerland Co, IN 1830.
Pat’s note: if John died in 1835, Susannah couldn’t have married John
Bradshaw.
Spouse: Susannah Unknown
Birth: abt 1781
Death: aft 1860
Children: Lemuel (~1802-<1845)
Possibly Silas
Notes for Susannah, widow of John Seaver:
Said to have gone to IN with Jacob Seaver & family and to have married
Unknown (John?) Bradshaw, who also went to IN. Bradshaw & Susannah
said to have returned to TN. (Oldest Bradshaw son named Thomas.)
William's daughter Sarah Susannah m. Jacob Grubb in Grainger, TN 24 may
1829. Her descendants say that she returned from IN to TN with her
aunt, Susannah Bradshaw. The following census records seem to apply:
1830 Grainger p. 378 Susannah Bradshaw 0012 0000001 (widow John Seaver)
1840 Susannah Bradshaw Grainger p. 116 00002 00000001 (widow John

John Seavers' father-in-law, Simon Riggle, was associated with the St.
