James W. Stanley, 71, 1510 Fruit St., died at 8:50 a.m. Sunday (May 9, 1999) at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Mr. Stanley retired from the Container Corporation Division of Jefferson Smurfit, Fort Wayne, in 1990. He was a member of the College Park United Brethren in Christ Church and a veteran of the Korean War. He was born March 11, 1928 in Polk Township, Huntington County, to John Charles and Bessie Ellen Fritz Stanley. He married E. Joanna Bare on April 22, 1950 in Andrews. She died June 21, 1997. Survivors include two sons, Thomas J. Stanley, Modesto, Calif., and Mark A. Stanley, Huntington; three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Carol) Michel, Huntington, and Mrs. Tom (Karen) Mulligan and Kathy Stanley, both of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Paul Fritz Stanley, Huntington, and Joseph Stanley, Decatur; a sister, Elizabeth Herberger, Lockport, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. Calling is from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Wednesday at the Deal-Robbins & Van Gilder Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Rev. Raymond Waldfogel will officiate at the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Andrews. Preferred memorials are to the College Park United Brethren in Christ Church, 1945 College Ave., Huntington, IN 46750.
