One source says he was a black sheep who lived to be 103."David appears to be our black sheep. He married twice and had several
children by both wives. He left his first wife Sally, for Lydia Parsons.
He was blind and an invalid, living with a daughter in Goshen Iowa, when
he died at theage of 103." This source also puts Green as David's son rather than William's.Another source, a Parsons descendant, says death date was 10 years earlier and doesn't mention Sally. Suspect that David Alva was Sally's husband.
1860 Eel River twp Hendricks Co IN census has him at age 65, living with son Lindsay L., 30, and an Evaline 25, in the Mary Parsons household (48) with Jaspar, John, Bernard, William, George, and Susan Parsons.

Best available evidence so far indicates Isham was the son of Nathaniel Thrift who came to NC from VA with his older sister Esther (Thrift)(Rochester) Critcher and her second husband. Nathaniel was the son of Wm. Thrift and Ann Gower of Richmond Co. VA. No proof but there are strong lines of reasoning to support this.
Nathaniel married (Jane ???) and had Isham, William, and Letitia.from http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.com/~vataxlists/Chesterfield/1801PersonalB/IndexPers1801VaChesterfieldB.txt:

Bob, Thanks for the info on Isham. I'll check that out. We know definitely that Sarah/Sally Thrift was Isham's daughter - she is mentioned in his will. I am a direct descendant of hers and we have records including Isham's will to prove it. The David Thrift who married Lydia Parsons (also one of my descendants through her brother) is definitely Sarah's brother and was the executor of Isham's will. We have found mention of two different Davids. One is listed as David Alva Thrift and the other as David Anderson Thrift. What is not clear is which middle name goes with Isham's son David and which middle name goes with Sarah's husband David.
Thanks again on the information on Isham.
KrysKrys,
I have correspondence from a granddaughter of Mary Caroline Thrift, the daughter of David Thrift and Lydia Parsons. She says that her ancestor's name was David Anderson Thrift.
I would prefer the "two Davids" version myself, as it would resolve a 10 yr age difference between them in some of the records -- will see what I can discover about a David Alva Thrift.
Best regards,
BobPosted by: Krystine Abrao Date: May 30, 1999 at 09:00:14

Bob,
Several of our family records, Parsons and Thrift, say that Lydia Parsons' husband was David Anderson Thrift so I think that is probably correct.
One of our family's researchers says that she had run across something that listed Sara's David's father as being a James Thrift but she had not been able support that. Does that ring any bells with you?
Also, something that may help as I'm not sure where this middle name came from is that I am descended through Sara and David Thrift's daughter Mary ABANATHA Thrift. Do you have any idea where they name ABANATHA came from?
Thank you for your help,
Krys--- see Thrift_David.paf for an entirely different interpretation of the David/Sarah/Lydia Parsons relationships

A John Hohn is listed in the 1790 Mannheim Twp Lancaster Co PA census: 1 male > 16, 2 males < 16, no females. Next households are William Gable, John Johnston, Christ France(?), Henry Booth/Booch, Samuel Bear (3 males > 16, 2 males < 16, 3 females). Then four "Long" households (Benjamin, Isaac, John, and John Jr.) Before Mr. Hohn is Martin Myer (4 males > 16, 2 females).
1795 Mannheim twp tax list has John Hahn, cordwainer. Bears included are two Michaels, Jacob, John, George, and Daniel.
1801 Mannheim twp tax list has John Hahn, shoemaker with 1 cow, house and lot. Bairs included are John, George, Jacob, Phillip the weaver, and Daniel with a still; Bears are Michael and Michael the weaver, Samuel the weaver.
Other 1790 PA Hahns are mainly in Berks Co, one in Bucks Co, a chocolate maker named Christian Hahn in Philadelphia, and David Hahn of Paradise Twp, York Co.Many Hahns in Frederick MD 1790-1810.
A John Hahn is listed in the East Bethlehem Twp, Washington Co PA, 1800 census -- same as our Peter Winterode -- with 1 male 16-26, 1 male 45+, 2 females <10, 1 female 10-16, 2 females 16-26, and 1 female 45+. Acc to jzollars@cybermesa.com, John and Elizabeth Hahn's daughters Mary (1780-1856) and Frances (1783-1845) married Zollars brothers and brought up children in Washington Co PA between 1801-1820, then moved on to Carroll Co OH. This same source says about John Hahn: John Hahn served in the Northumberland County, PA volunteers under Capt. Johannes van Etten (1781). He removed to Harrison Cty, OH, where he died. Census records find Zollars in East Bethlehem, Amwell, and West Bethlehem in 1830/40.

The East Bethlehem Twp, Washington Co PA John Hahn is still there in 1810, age 45+, with 2 females < 10, 1 female 16-26, and 1 female 45+. No other Hahns, so who knows, maybe the 1800 16-26 year old male is our Jacob (though he would be about 30 in 1800).
This John Hahn is next to Jacob Kees Jr; 2 pages before, Barbara Keese is one family away from David Baher/Baker, Nehemiah Baher/Baker, Aaron Baker, and Hannah Baher. The family in between Mrs Keese and David Baher is James Register; Thomas Register is four families away from John Hahn. Other Bahers (indexed as Baker) are John and Nicholas. (The census taker's h's and k's are very similar. The 1800 census has clearly written K's for Aaron, George, and John Baker.)
A Christian Hawn is in an 1809 tax list for Franklin Twp, Warren Co, OH. J. Hawn (26-45, 1m<10,1f<10,1f16-26) is in the 1820 Franklin Twp Warren Co census.Other 1800 PA census Hahns with promise, both in York County: Elizabeth Hahn of York Borough, York County, age 45+, living with 1 male age 10-16. Next households are John Edie, Godfrey Lenhart, Jennet McClellan, William Walls, Dr. Thomas Jameson, and John Hahn (2 males < 10, 1 male 26-45, 2 females < 10, 2 females 10-16, 1 female 26-45). Later on in same borough is Jacob Hahn, age 16-26, with 1 female 10-16 and 1 female 26-45. Manchester Twp has David Hahn on same page as Catherine Baher and William Peter (see Elizabeth Catherine Peters notes).
The York Borough Jacob Hahn is still there in 1810, listed as "Esq.", with 1 male 10-16, 1 male 26-45, 2 female 10-16, and 1 female 26-45. The ancestry.com census index also lists a John Hahn, but I could not find him in the original.
