The following is excerpted from an Anderson Family website -- http://anderson.mine.nu/anderson_geneology/Index.htm --
"James Anderson married Mary Schnorf in 1795 while both were living in Washington Pennsylvania. On February 5 1817, James Anderson was granted 50 acres in Ohio , part of military warrant 5871, for his service with Francis Boykin...The current theory is that many families (Anderson, Carmony, Deiwert, Schnorf, Winterrowd) migrated to Ohio from South Western Pennsylvania approximately 1817 - 1819.
...taking a boat over the Ohio River to Cincinnati Ohio, and traveled up the river to Warren County... But another theory with extremely strong possibility has the group leaving southwestern Pennsylvania and traveling the major roads southwest eventually settling in Warren, and Montgomery County Ohio. This is the support of Charles B Anderson being counted in the 1820 census in Wayne Township, Pickaway County, Ohio...
John Peter Winterrowd (27 Nov 1773 - 21 Jun 1839) owned 105 acres in Deerfield Township, Warren County Ohio. John Peter Winterrowd is buried in Unity Cemetery, Warren County Ohio. John Peter Winterrowd's son, John married James Anderson and Mary (Schnorf) Anderson's, daughter Mary. A number of Winterrowd's descendants occupied Darke County Ohio and a number moved to Shelby County Indiana in the same time as James grandchildren."The Wintrode family file at Lebanon OH indicates that Jacob Bear sold land to Peter's brother Adam Wintro c. 1816. Acc to John Wintro's descendant and Warren Co History Museum curator Hazel Phillips, Jacob was granted the land by George Washington in 1794, so perhaps in addition to James Anderson, was a source of the Ohio land for this branch of the Winterrowds.)
A letter in the Wintro file at Warren Co Historical museum says the Peter Winterroad was an ensign in the Washington Co, PA militia in 1796, and that his sons were among the first settlers in Shelby Co IN, 1821-1824. Letter dated Feb 3 1959 from Mrs Harry (Cecile) Montgomery of Waldron, IN.

Winrott or Wenderoth Maria Barbara On April 7 or 17 1824 a Maria Barbara Wenderoth was born and christened on May 30 1824 at Christ Reformed
church,Littlestown, Adams county . Is this church still there and are any records available? I think her name was later Mary B. Winrott- does this sound right from a
German spelling to an American spelling? If the records are available - does anyone have a book that they could look up and see if there is any info about herand her
family. I know that in 1835 she spelled her name Winrott. Thank you.
