Acc to 1910 Polk Twp Census, Charles, age 39, was living with his mother that year. He was the only other household member counted.

Charles U., age 9, is listed in the 1880 Polk Twp Huntington Co IN census. His middle initial is also U. in the 1900 Polk Twp census. But his obituary and gravestone copied by Donald Gradeless have his middle initial as H.

Charley is listed in the 1870 census as 3 yrs old.

If the 1930 census is correct, Iva was 17 when she first married.

Huntington Co marriage records lists William Rathfon m Ina M. Bare Jul 26 1899, making her 12 if it is indeed Iva. 1900 census has Iva, age 13, living at home with her parents in Polk Twp, and the 1910 census shows her married to William for 5 years, age 22 and William 32.


Henry Elonza Bare

Henry Elonzo Bare, 81, former resident of Polk township for many years, died at 11:22 a.m. Monday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Lester Harris, 802 South Galatin Street, Marion, after a serious illness of three weeks. He had been in failing health for three months.
Mr. Bare was born December 23, 1862; to Isaac and Lydia M. Bare in Polk township. his marriage April 23, 1904, was to Daisy G. Ricks, who survives.
Surviving beside the widow were eight children, Mrs. Walter Gradeless, Huntington rural route; Corporal Albert Bare, Robbins Field, Ga., U.S.A.A.C.; Carl C. Bare, Cleveland, Ohio; Miss Agnes Bare and Mrs. Lester Harris, Marion; S-Sgt-T Wardner A. Bare and Sgt. David O. Bare with the United States army in Iran; and Walter Bare, Upland, Calif. there are nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Minnie Owens, Andrews, is a sister and three brothers are Charles and Frank Bare of Huntington and Linley Bare of Andrews. One grandchild and one great grandchild are dead.
The body was brought to the Bailey funeral home where friends may call.
Mr. Bare was a farmer for many years in Polk township and was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist church at Monument City. He had been retired for the last five years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday the Monument City Wesleyan Methodist church with the Rev. C. C. Fields officiating, assisted by the Rev. Emerson Chapman.
Burial will be at the Monument City cemetery.

Obituary: Carl Bare, a police inspector who halted a concert by the Beatles when
teenage fans got out of hand, has died. He was 86.
Mr. Bare died at Southwest General Hospital.
Fans rushed the stage at Public Hall midway through the Beatles' Sept. 15, 1964,
concert. Mr. Bare snatched the microphone from George Harrison and John Lennon
and escorted the Fab Four to safety.
A newspaper artist who sketched the incident dubbed Mr. Bare
"the fifth Beatle" for his brief on-stage appearance.
Mr. Bare, who served in every police district in the city, was the first officer to head
the Community Relations Division. The unit was established to strengthen the ties
weakened when prowl cars replaced foot patrols.
He also served as president of the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police for 21 years. In
1977 he was designated president emeritus of the Ohio FOP, the only person ever to
receive the designation
