"Farm is Struck by Lightning.
Lightning struck the farm home of Hugh Bare, 4 miles south of this city, early this morning and fire fighting equipment from sheriff's headquarters made a record run to bring the blaze under control.
The bolt struck about 3:00 am and flames started in the wall of the building. Quick control measures by the family kept the damage down insofar as the fire was concerned. Loss, however, from the lightning will probably reach several hundred dollars."Hugh managed a "you-pick" strawberry patch on his farm, advertised in the TCRE classifieds (June 28 1950, p. 10). Located on Silver Lake Road. 15 cents a quart. In June 1951 he placed an ad offering a young pinto horse for sale.
