Eldon L. Dow

I met Eldon for the first time at the 1977 Bare Family Reunion. Never heard of him before. He was divorced at the time. I established while drinking with him at a local bar that his mother was Winnie. He died seven years later of the Lou Gehrig's disease which was already crippling him.

Richard L. Dow

Richard Dow was living in Concordville PA in 1954.

Lyman W. Dow

My family visited with Lyman and Merle quite often in the 50's and early 60's. Lyman was a post office supervisor in Flint. He graduated from Flint Northern in 1939. Their kids went to Ainsworth High. Nancy went to U-M and was enrolled in psychology as I was. She married Bruce and moved to Bellevue Washington. Diane was a talented cook as a teen--she was making baked Alaska during one visit. Cheryl worked as a nurse.

Paul C. Bare

We visited them in Honor, MI when he was 80. He was lively and "still kickin'". Ferne was very friendly but had a small poodle who I thought gave me hives.

This from son Ira: Paul and Wilbur moved together from Lake Ann to Flint in 1919 to work in the shops. "They were dying up there," due to lack of good farmland. They lived together along with their families on Gillespie Street in Flint. A sad coincidence was that both Wilbur's 3-year-old daughter Annie and Paul's 5-year-old son Leonard died shortly after they arrived, Annie of pneumonia and Leonard of a fall into a sewer ditch. Wilbur later moved his family to Alexander Street and Paul and Ferne moved to Clio; in the early 30s Paul bought a farm in Clio and Wilbur bought a farm (foreclosure sale) in Grand Blanc (the "Holly farm"). So Paul was closest to Wilbur of his siblings; Wilbur was Ira's favorite uncle ("more laid back, didn't talk as much as Dad").

There are two birth certificates for Uncle Pete -- Paul C. 1/27/91 H-6:16, Paul E. 1/27/92 H-5:26. Huntington Co IN.
