Some notes in the Wintrode family file at the Warren County Historical Museum, Lebanon, Ohio.

Sept 30 1794 is the day that George Washington signed the patent for the Symmes Purchase of some 270,000 acres in southwestern Ohio between the Miami and the Little Miami River. John Cleves Symmes then conveyed the third (aka "military") range to Jonathon Dayton, who had bought military bounty warrants from Revolutionary War soldiers who wanted to live there.
