Welcome to the University of Michigan Biological Station, better known as
bug camp.
While the population of biting black flies is down this year, probably because of a great number last year and El Nino, plenty of mosquitoes and flesh flies are expected later on in the summer. This is a great place to be.

This page will provide much useful and interesting information about

bug camp
and my life therein, as long as the workload isn't too heavy. Don't worry, think of it as summer camp with exams and worse food.

UMBS Cafeteria Recycling Program

Actually, it's more like human composting. I'd like to document as many alimentary atrocities as I can. According to Waggs, this is at least two cuts above the chow at East Quad. "It's not that bad," says Tim, a kafe kid. And they play Squirrel Nut Zippers in the dishroom.

Cynicisms

This is a list of some instructions I have thought of for dealing with personal interactions. They tend to take a dim view because, well, I've had some pretty dim experiences lately.

  1. What people say and do can be entirely different.
  2. No matter how comfortable you are in a situation, never, EVER say exactly what is on your mind.
  3. The way statements are meant and how they are taken can be entirely different.
  4. If you don't censor your feelings before they are revealed to the general public, the general public may become annoyed.
  5. Life Without Friendship is like Cake Without Icing: Kind of sweet, sometimes you're in the mood for it, but it really just doesn't compare to the package deal.
  6. All the bathrooms will be cleaned at the same time.
  7. Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got till it's gone?

Work

Lookit, I actually produced some stuff this summer besides a web page! Read these UMBS papers written by me and learn something.
