Emily Perryman, flute


Since receiving her master's degree in flute performance from the
University of Michigan in December of 1998, Emily Perryman has established
a successful free-lance career in the Ann Arbor area, performing with the
Flint Symphony, Plymouth Symphony, Brave New Works, Phoenix Ensemble,
Michigan Opera Works and Comic Opera Guild. Emily also holds bachelor
degrees in flute performance and music education from the Ohio State
University, where she graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the
Theodore Presser Foundation Scholarship. Her principal teachers have
included Katherine Borst Jones, Leone Buyse, Lorna McGhee, and Jeffery
Zook, and she has performed in masterclasses for Peter Lloyd, Susan Milan,
Jim Walker, and Robert Willoughby, among others. In addition to her active
performing career, Emily currently works full-time at Shar Products
Company, where she coordinates a CD consignment program for string
players. An avid music educator, she holds a state of Michigan teaching
certificate, maintains a private studio of flute students, and serves as an
adjudicator for the Michigan State Band and Orchestra Solo & Ensemble
Festivals. In her spare time, Emily enjoys working with her husband and
theatre director on stage and behind the scenes at Ann Arbor Civic Theatre.
