Jared Hauser's performing career has taken him throughout North America and Europe
as both chamber and orchestral musician. He has also appeared as soloist with orchestras
at home and abroad such as the Bournemouth Sinfonietta in the United Kingdom.
Jared has been the recipient of numerous awards, most recently receiving top prizes
at the 2001 Isle of Wight International Oboe Competition, and the 2000 Detroit Symphony
Orchestra Bradlin Competition. He can be heard on recordings from the Koch International,
AUR and Blue Griffin labels.
Jared performs as principal oboist with the Orchestra of Northern New York and is
on the faculty of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam where he is a member
of the Potsdam Woodwind Quintet. For the past three seasons has taught for summer
programs at the Interlochen Center for the Arts and the University of Michigan.
Jared was formerly principal oboist of the Battle Creek Symphony, and the Brazos
Valley Symphony Orchestra (Texas). His other orchestral credits include performing
with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the New World Symphony, Greater Lansing Symphony
Orchestra, and the Michigan Opera Theater.
Jared holds degrees from Rice University, the Oberlin Conservatory, the University
of Michigan and the Interlochen Arts Academy. He is also a doctoral candidate at
Michigan State University where he recipient of the MSU Distinguished Fellowship
Award. His principal teachers include Dan Stolper, Robert Atherholt, James Caldwell,
Elizabeth Camus, Alex Klein, and Harry Sargous.
