Mezzo-soprano Anne D’Oyley Adams has been a member of Brave New Works since 1998.
An avid recitalist and proponent of contemporary music, Dr. Adams has sung numerous
premieres of contemporary operas and chamber works throughout the country, in addition
to numerous recitals and performances of the standard repertory. Most recently
she has appeared with the Waukegan Symphony, the Alma Symphony Orchestra, the St.
Olaf College Faculty Recital Series, and the Ann Arbor Art Song Festival, with whom
she has sung for the last five seasons. She has served as a member of the New
York City Opera Chorus and is alto soloist with the Plymouth Congregational Church
in Minneapolis under the direction of Philip Brunelle. Currently assistant
professor of voice at St. Olaf College in Minnesota, Dr. Adams holds a DMA in voice
and an MA in music theory from University of Michigan, an MM in voice from the Manhattan
School, and a BM in voice and BA in German studies from Oberlin, and has studied
art song and chamber music at the Tanglewood Music Festival and the Bayreuth Jugendfestspieltreffen.
