So that you might have a brief idea of
what a District Director does, here is a bit of information. Please
also check the "Duties" section of this website for a more specific statement,
quoted directly from ACBL literature provided to District Directors.
A District Director is a member of the Board of Directors of the American
Contract Bridge League (ACBL). The ACBL is a major, non-profit, business
in the entertainment industry. It has 25 Districts in North America
(including all 50 of the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Bermuda,
the Virgin Islands and others). The ACBL has about 170,000 members.
Service to this Board of Directors is similar to service on any other Board
of Directors of a major organization: the Board helps to set policy
for the broad goals of the entire organization.
