Harvey M. Silets represents individuals and corporations in extensive governmental investigations and prosecutions and his practice is national in scope.
He has defended bank officers accused of fraud, as well as individuals and companies charged with various White Collar offenses.
Mr. Silets lectures frequently, including having addressed the American Bankers Association, trade groups and professional organizations.
He has, every year, since 1999, addressed the International Symposium on Economic Crime at Cambridge University,
England, on a variety of subjects of interest to bankers, government
officials and financial organizations from around the world.
He participated in the ABA's Annual Meeting speaking about
"Shelters, Trusts & Other Outbound International Tax Planning
Techiques; Criminal & Civil Perils Facing The Practitioner," as
well as in the American Bar Association's National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud,
addressing various topics, including: "Representing The Client During A
Criminal Tax Investigation" and "Money Laundering - The "Not So New"
Tax Crime."
Mr. Silets has been elected by his peers to be a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, where he had served as Chairman of the Federal Criminal Procedures Committee for the country, and is past Illinois State Chairman.
He has been named by the National Law Journal as one of the nation's top ten litigators.
He has been elected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, whose membership is limited to 500, as a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, and as a Fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers.
He is the only lawyer in the United States to be elected to all four Colleges and Boards concurrently.
He is an adjunct professor of Taxation at IIT-Kent College of Law.
