Call for Papers

Registration
As always, registration for Chapter meetings is free to members in good standing--just fill out a registration form and pick up a nametag at the registration table outside the meeting room. You may join or renew your membership by paying annual dues to the Chapter treasurer at this time. Visit our membership and dues pages for more information.

Meeting Site
The meeting will be held in Rm. 215 of Kamm Hall on the campus of Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. (NOTE: Kamm Hall is the home of our business school. It is NOT the Conservatory.)

Accommodations
There are a number of hotels within a 10-minute drive of both the Baldwin-Wallace campus and Cleveland Hopkins Airport. Some of these offer complimentary transportation to and from the airport, and a few offer transportation to the B-W campus. (Unfortunately, none of these are within comfortable walking distance.) For a list, please go to http://www.bw.edu/resources/hotels/.

Travel
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (Code: CLE) is a Continental Airlines hub and is served by most national carriers. It is located about 5-10 minutes away from the B-W campus. As mentioned above, many local hotels offer free shuttle service to and from the airport.

Driving
For driving directions to the B-W campus from any direction and, specifically, to Kamm Hall, please go to http://www.bw.edu/quickfacts/directions/kamm/. You will also find there a link to a printable campus map.

Parking
As noted on the driving directions, you will find plenty of convenient parking in the large Kamm-Bonds lot.

RIEMENSCHNEIDER BACH INSTITUTE
Baldwin-Wallace College is home to the Riemenscheider Bach Institute, one of the most important centers for Bach research in North America. Among the Institute’s holdings are original manuscripts in Bach’s hand and those of several of his Leipzig copyists, early printed editions of Bach’s music, and significant later editions, such as the Bach anthology once owned by Clara Schumann and containing annotations by both Clara and Robert Schumann as well as Johannes Brahms. During our lunch break on Saturday, Dr. Mel Unger and his staff have graciously offered to open the RBI and put several of its treasures on display. For more information on the RBI and its holdings, please go to: www.bw.edu/academics/libraries/bach/.

Cultural Events
The center of Cleveland’s cultural life is University Circle, which is about a 45-minute drive from the B-W campus. (Maps and driving directions will be available at the meeting.) There you will find both Severance Hall, the beautiful art deco home of the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Cleveland Art Museum.

Weather
Late April is usually fairly pleasant in Cleveland but we can have fairly wild swings in temperature, precipitation type and amount, etc. It is not unheard of for us to have a last fleeting gasp of winter weather (including snow!) in April, thus it is very difficult to predict with any accuracy what SEASON you will encounter at that time (much less what the weather will be), so please check the extended forecast a few days before the meeting.

Local Arrangements
Please extend our sincere thanks to Professor Michael Strasser of Baldwin-Wallace for his hospitality.

Further details about the Spring meeting will be added as they become available.
