SPEAKER: Michael Goodchild

AFFILIATION: Professor of Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Director of the National Center for Geographical Information and Analysis (NCGIA).

BIO: Dr. Goodchild has a BA in Physics from Cambridge University and a Ph.D. in Geography from McMaster University. He taught from 1969-1988 at the University of Western Ontario, and has been at the University of California, Santa Barbara since 1988. He has written and lectured widely on spatial analysis and geographic information systems (GIS). His recent research and publication has included error and uncertainty in spatial data, spatial analysis in social sciences, and GIS and environmental modeling.
