My overall view of Bible Prophecy would be expressed in terms of the following periods of time: Age of Promise, Age of Law, Age of Grace, 7-year Tribulation Period, 1000-year Millennial Age and Eternity.
For a discussion of estimated dates for the 7-year Tribulation Period, refer to website "Countdown to Battle of Armageddon" at location http://members.aol.com/chasmcmull/armindex.html; Chapter 2 "Best Estimates of Dates in Bible Prophecy."

The 1000-year Millennial Age follows immediately after the 7-year Tribulation Period. Jesus will set up his Kingdom on Earth at this time, and the righteous from all past ages will reign with him. The 12 disciples will sit on thrones and judge the tribes of Israel. Satan and his demons will be confined to the Bottomless Pit during most of the Millennial Age, and so there will be no demonic activity on earth at this time. However, toward the end of this period Satan is released for a short time. For more information,

Righteous earth people at the end of the Tribulation Period will continue on into the Millennial Age, and populate the earth at that time. Jesus will rule with and iron rod, not tolerating any significant disobedience. Those obedient to Jesus will be considered righteous, and any disobedience will be considered wicked or unrighteous. Minor infractions would probably result in sickness, flagrant infractions death. Righteous earth people will not die during the Millennial Age. There is only one future resurrection and it is for the wicked at the end of the Millennial Age. For more information,

Life span will be increased so that one who dies at 100 will be considered a mere youth. The wild animals will become tame so that the wolf, lamb, leopard, goat, calf and lion will lie down together, with the little child among them. The productivity of the earth will be restored so that the desert will blossom. Trees will bring forth an abundance of fruit each month for food, and the leaves will be for medicine. It appears that the land and the trees will supply an abundance of food, requiring relatively little effort by the people. Isa 11:9 tells us: They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. It sounds like a very peaceful, delightful time to be living.
Toward the end of the Millennial Age, Satan will be released from the Bottomless Pit, and he will go out and gather the nations on earth together for battle with God. These will surround the city of Jerusalem. This is Satan's last attempt to destroy the Jewish Nation. However, this wicked group is destroyed by fire from heaven, and Satan is cast into the Lake of Fire where he will be tormented day and night for ever. The righteous on earth are not affected by this last confrontation between God and Satan. They will continue on earth into the next age, that is Eternity. For more information,

The Great White Throne Judgment is the last event in the Millennial Age. Here the wicked are raised from the dead and judged according to what they had done. Then they, like Satan, will be cast into the Lake of Fire and be tormented day and night forever.

NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S DREAM: Daniel was required to describe and to interpret a dream of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Dan 2:1,31-36, 41-45. In the dream the king saw a large statue, with emphasis on : (1)... head of gold, (2)... breast and arms of silver, (3)... belly and thighs of brass, (4)... legs of iron and (5)... feet and 10 toes of clay and iron. Each of these represented a world empire which would come to pass down through history. For example, the head was Babylon which existed at the time of Daniel. The legs were the Roman Empire which existed at the time Jesus was on earth. However, the feet and 10 toes represent a future world empire which will exist during the latter part of the 7-year Tribulation Period. This is what we are primarily interested in.
10-NATION CONFEDERATION: In verses 33 and 41-43, we see that the feet and toes were partly of clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it. This kingdom will be partly strong and partly broken. The people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay. For more information,

BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON (World War III): Verse 44 tells us: In the time of those 10 kings, the God of heaven will break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms and bring them to an end. This speaks of the Battle of Armageddon where the ANTICHRIST and his 10-nation confederation of nations are destroyed. For more information,

SETTING UP KINGDOM ON EARTH: Verse 44 also tells us that the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed; it will stand forever. This speaks of Jesus setting up his Kingdom on Earth for the 1000-year Millennial Age. Then Jesus and the righteous from all past ages, will reign over the present earth for 1000 years. After that they will reign over the new earth for the rest of eternity. For more information,

Scripture for Chapter 3-2
Dan 2:1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.
Dan 2:31-36 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. 32This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass, 33His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. 34Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. 35Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth. 36This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
Dan 2:41-45 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. 42And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. 43And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay. 44And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. 45Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

Here we see Satan locked and confined in the Bottomless Pit for most of the 1000-year Millennial Age, that is, until the end when he will be released for a short time. Since Satan and his demons were cast out of heaven together, we assume that his demons are also confined with him in the Bottomless Pit for 1000 years, Rev 20:1-3,7-8. Thus there will be no demonic activity on earth during most of the 1000-year Millennial Age. Human nature being what it is, everything will not be perfect during the Millennial Age, even without Satanic influence.
In Rev 19:11,14,19-21 we have a description of the Battle of Armageddon (World War III), which takes place at the Second Coming of Jesus, at the end of the 7-year Tribulation Period. For more information,

Then in Rev 20:1-3,7-8, following this battle, we see an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the Bottomless Pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. Rev 19:19-20:3 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. 20And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. 20:1And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Rev 20:7-8 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

JESUS RULES WITH AN IRON ROD: First consider 2 references where Jesus is referred to as ruling with an iron rod: (1)... Rev 12:1-5 is talking about the birth of Jesus and (2)... Rev 19:11,14-15 is talking about the Second Coming of Jesus at the end of the Tribulation Period. Jesus' ruling with an iron rod simply does not fit anywhere except during the 1000-year Millennial Age. For more information,

Consider the reference to an iron rod in Rev 19:11,14-15. This event occurs at the Second Coming of Jesus at the end of the 7-year Tribulation Period. Here Jesus appears in heaven with his heavenly armies, which are the righteous from all past ages. These are coming back to earth, where Jesus will set up his kingdom for the 1000-year Millennial Age. In verse 15 it says, He will rule them with an iron rod. For more information,

During the Millennial Age the curse of sin will not be lifted, but it's effects will be greatly reduced. Human nature of righteous earth people then, will be no different than it is at the present time in the Age of Grace. Then, those who give strict obedience to Jesus will be considered righteous, and nothing less than that will be tolerated without some consequences. Depending on the severity of the infraction, the consequence could be sickness and/or death. However, human nature being what it is there will always be the tendency to be less than fully obedient. Thus the need for Jesus to rule with an iron rod.
This tendency to be less than fully obedient to Jesus will be true even though Satan is bound and locked in the Abyss during most of the Millennial Age. Near the end, however, when Satan is released a short time, he will go out and lead multitudes of earth people, numbered as the sands of the seashore, in a final rebellion against God. This shows clearly the frailty of human nature, and the need for Jesus to rule with and iron rod. For more information,

Scripture for Chapter 3-4
Rev 12:1-5 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 2And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. 3And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. 5And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:14-15 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

WHO WILL REIGN WITH JESUS: The First Resurrection is for the righteous. It is complete at the end of the 7-year Tribulation Period. It consists of 4 parts: (a)... those raised at the resurrection of Jesus, Mat 27:52-53, (b)... those resurrected at the Rapture of the Church, 1 The 4:16-17 and (c)... those resurrected at the end of the Tribulation Period, Rev 20:4. The 4th group is the righteous living at the time of the Rapture, and these would also be included with the groups (a), (b) and (c). This total of the 4 groups is referred to as the First Resurrection. For more information,

Scripture for Chapter 3-5
Mat 27:52-53 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
1 The 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Rev 20:4-6 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

In Mat 19:27-28 Peter said to Jesus that the 12 disciples had left everything to follow him. Then Peter asks what reward would there be for them? Jesus tells the 12 disciples that they will sit on 12 thrones judging the 12 tribes of Israel during the 1000-year Millennial Age. This suggests that the REWARDS for the righteous in heaven will be based on service rendered to the Lord here on earth, after we became Believers. It Also suggests that the STATUS of the righteous in heaven will NOT BE EQUAL. For more information,

During the 1000-year Millennial Age, a river of living water will flow out of the temple in Jerusalem, eastward to the Dead Sea, which will become fresh and full of fish. Wherever this river flows, fish and plant life will flourish. On the banks of the river trees will bear an abundance of fruit every month for food, and the leaves will be for medicine, Eze 47:1, 8-12.
In Zec 14:1-5 we read of the Second Coming of Jesus at the end of the 7-year Tribulation Period. In verse 4 we are told that the feet of Jesus will stand on the Mount of Olives, which will split to the north and south, yielding a great valley running east and west. It will be through this east-west valley that the river of water will flow from the temple to the Dead Sea. For more information,

Scripture for Chapter 3-7.4
Eze 47:1 Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.
Eze 47:8-12 Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. 9And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh. 10And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from En-gedi even unto En-eglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many. 11But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt. 12And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
Zec 14:1-5 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 4And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

LAST BATTLE BETWEEN GOD AND SATAN FROM BOOK OF REVELATION (World War IV): This last battle between God and Satan takes place near the end of the 1000-year Millennial Age. This is Satan's last attempt to destroy the Jewish nation. In Rev 20:7-10 we have one description of this event:
And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city (Jerusalem): and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. For more information,
CLICK to link to Appendix A-3 Prisons for Demons or Appendix A-4 Lake of Fire
Thus even though the people on earth have been living under ideal conditions for 1000 years, untold numbers of them are ready to follow Satan in his last effort to destroy the Jewish Nation. Since following Satan is flagrant rebellion against Jesus, this group is destroyed immediately.
LAST BATTLE BETWEEN GOD AND SATAN FROM BOOK OF EZEKIEL (World War IV): Consider references Eze 38:14-15, 39:1-4,9-10,12, which give us a second description of this event.. Note first that Israel is living safely in their land, Eze 38:14. Certainly that is not the case at the present time, but it will be during the Millennial Age. Then observe the primitive tools of war starting with horses, Eze 38:15. The weapons used were made of wood: shields, bows and arrows, war clubs and spears, Eze 39:9. The invading armies are destroyed by God in the land of Israel, Eze 39:1-4. It takes Israel 7 months to bury the dead of the invading armies, and it takes them 7 years to use up as fuel, the wooden weapons of war which littered the battlefield, Eze 39:9-10,12.
Thus even though Jesus has been ruling with an iron rod, for nearly a 1000 years, many earth people have been quietly developing simple tools of war. One would conclude from this that quiet, subdued, low-key rebelling against Jesus will be tolerated at least temporarily during the Millennial Age.
GOD'S PURPOSE IN THIS LAST BATTLE: The Lord says: I will display my glory among the nations, and the nations will see the punishment I inflict. Then Israel will know that I am the Lord their God, Eze 39:21-22.
Preliminary Consideration of Purpose: Although the Jews starting the 1000-year Millennial Age would all have accepted Jesus as the Messiah which they were looking for, many of those born during this period appear not to have done so. Thus God uses this last battle to display his glory among the nations of earth, and to show the severity of punishment he will inflict in protecting Israel. After that Israel will know that he is the Lord their God
Further Discussion of Purpose: The nations shall know that Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so they fell by the sword. According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done to them, and hid my face from them, Eze 39:23-24. For more information,

The Lord GOD says: Now will I bring Jacob back from captivity, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name. They will forget their shame, and all their trespasses against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid. When I have brought them back from the nations, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, I will show myself holy through them in the sight of the nations. Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the nations: but I have gathered them back to their own land, and have left none of them there. Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, says the Lord GOD, Eze 39:25-29.

Scripture for Chapter 3-8
Eze 38:14-15 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it? 15And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:
Eze 39:1-4 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 2And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel: 3And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand. 4Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
Eze 39:9-10 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years: 10So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.
Eze 39:12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.
Eze 39:21-29 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. 22So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward. 23And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword. 24According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them. 25Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name; 26After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid. 27When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations; 28Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. 29Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
Rev 20:7-10 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

This event takes place at the very end of the Millennial Age. It is described in Rev 20:11-15. Here the wicked are raised from the dead. Hades, the present abode of the wicked dead, would be emptied at this time. The wicked would then be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire. Being cast into the Lake of Fire is referred to as the Second Death. For more information,

Note that the books were opened and the wicked were judged according to what they had done during their life here on earth. This suggests that the degree of punishment in the Lake of Fire is determined by the kind of life the wicked lived here on earth. The casting of the wicked into the Lake of Fire at the end of the Millennial Age, is also mentioned in Mat 13:41-42.
IMPRISONED DEMONS CAST INTO LAKE OF FIRE: In 2 Pet 2:4, Jude 1:6, Rev 9:14-15 and Rev 20:1-3, we see 3 prisons mentioned: Tartarus, Bottomless Pit and Euphrates River, where demons (fallen angels) are confined and held for the day of judgment. Such prisons will be emptied at the Great White Throne Judgment and the occupants cast into the Lake of Fire. For more information,

Scripture for Chapter 3-9
Mat 13:41-42 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
2 Pet 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
Rev 9:14-15 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
Rev 20:1-3 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:11-15 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
