Appendix A-1_Hades, Abraham's Bosom and Paradise

INTRODUCTION: Hades is a Greek word for Hell. It is the present abode of the wicked dead, and it is a place of torment. It will be emptied at the Great White throne Judgment, at the end of the 1000-year Millennial Age. At that time the wicked are raised from the dead, and these together with any wicked living at that time, will be judged and then cast into the Lake of Fire. For more information,

Abraham's Bosom was a place of comfort for the righteous dead before the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus. Abraham's Bosom might be considered a compartment of Hades. Occupants of Hades and Abraham's Bosom could see and converse with each other, but could not cross over to the other side.

Paradise is what we refer to as heaven, that is, the place where God lives. At the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus, Abraham's Bosom was emptied and the occupants taken to Paradise with him. After the ascension of Jesus, the righteous dead have gone directly to heaven.

The Church Age began with the giving of the Holy Spirit to Believers, Act 2:1-4. It will end with the Rapture of the Church, at which time the Holy Spirit will be withdrawn from the earth. For more information,

BEFORE CHURCH AGE, RIGHTEOUS DEAD IN ABRAHAM'S BOSOM: Luk 16:19-20, 22-25 tells us that the abode of the wicked dead is in Hades, where they are in torment. But the abode of the righteous dead was in Abraham's Bosom , where they were comforted. Thus Hades has 2 compartments. This arrangement continued until the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus. In this story it is implied but not stated explicitly, that the rich man was wicked and Lazarus was righteous.

DURING CHURCH AGE, RIGHTEOUS DEAD TAKEN DIRECTLY TO HEAVEN: Jesus told one of the criminals crucified with him, "... today you will be with me in Paradise (heaven)," Luk 23:33,39-43. This is referring to the heaven where God abides, Rev 2:7. Consider also Paul's experience in being caught up to Paradise, 2 Cor 12:2-4,7. However, some feel that this reference to Paradise by Jesus was a reference to Abraham's Bosom.

It is thought that Eph 4:8-10 tells us that Jesus descended into Abraham's Bosom and took everyone there with him when he ascended into heaven after his resurrection. Thus Abraham's Bosom is empty at the present time. From that time on the righteous dead have gone directly to heaven, that is, as Paul says, "... to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, 2 Cor 5:6,8."

For a glimpse of the righteous dead in heaven during the Church Age, consider seal #5 which probably occurs about midpoint in the first half of the 7-year Tribulation Period, Rev 6:9-11. Here we see the righteous dead under the altar in heaven. These are Believers who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They cried out to the Lord for vengeance against those who had slain them, but instead they were each given a white robe and were told to wait a little longer until the rest who were to be killed, was completed. The receiving of a white robe here is significant, since it is one of the 3 important rewards which the Lords gives to Believers. This event occurs prior to the Rapture of the Church, which takes place at the middle of the Tribulation Period. For more information,

    Scripture for Appendix A-1

Luk 16:19-20 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

Luk 16:22-25 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Luk 23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

Luk 23:39-43 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Act 2:1-4 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

2 Cor 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

2 Cor 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

2 Cor 12:2-4 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

2 Cor 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

Eph 4:8-10 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Rev 6:9-11 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

    Appendix A-2_Two Resurrections

There are 2 resurrections to consider: (1)... The FIRST RESURRECTION is for the righteous. It is complete at the end of the 7-year Tribulation Period. It consists of 3 parts: (a)... those raised at the resurrection of Jesus, Mat 27:52-53, (b)... those resurrected at the Rapture of the Church, 1 The 4:16-17 and (c)... those resurrected at the end of the Tribulation Period, Rev 20:4. The righteous living at the time of the Rapture would also be included in the TOTAL for these groups (a), (b) and (c). For more information,

CLICK to link to Chapter 1-2 Overview of Tribulation Period

The total in the FIRST RESURRECTION are shown seated on thrones, and they reign with Jesus during the 1000-year Millennial Age. The SECOND DEATH has no power over them, Rev 20:4-6. For more information,

(2)... The SECOND RESURRECTION is for the wicked, and it takes place 1000 years later, which will be at the end of the 1000-year Millennial Age, Rev 20:5. At this time the Great White Throne Judgment occurs, Rev 20:11-13. Here Hades is emptied, and together with the wicked living at that time, these are judged and cast into the Lake of Fire. The Lake of Fire is referred to as the SECOND DEATH, Rev 20:14-15. For more information,

    Scripture for Appendix A-2

Mat 27:52-53 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

1 The 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Rev 20:4-6 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Rev 20:11-15 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Appendix A-3_Prisons for Demons: Tartarus, Bottomless Pit and Euphrates River

Tartarus is a Greek word for hell. Tartarus, Bottomless Pit and Euphrates River are prisons, dungeons or places of confinement for demons (fallen angels), 2 Pet 2:4, Jude 1:6, Rev 9:14-15 and Rev 20:1-3, 7-8. The occupants are held, bound in chains, awaiting their judgment. At times some are released to perform a certain function, Rev 9:1-5,14-15. At the Great White Judgment, at the end of the 1000-year Millennial Age, these prisons will be emptied. The occupants will be judged and then cast into the Lake of Fire. For more information,

CLICK to link to Chapter 1-3 Overview of Millennial Age or Appendix A-4 Lake of Fire

Note in Luk 8:29-31, Jesus was casting out demons. They begged him repeatedly not to order them to go into the Bottomless Pit. In Rev 9:11 we are told of a king over the demons in the Bottomless Pit.

Although most demons are held in prisons, Satan and his demons are given considerable freedom by God to function as they wish, within limits, however. In fact Satan presently has access to heaven and accuses us constantly before God, Rev 12:7-10. There is another group of demons referred to in Dan 10:7,10-13, as the Persian kingdom, which does not appear to be in prison. Why we don't know.

In Gen 6:1-8 it appears that angels came down and married earthly women. That sin so displeased God that it may have been the trigger point which led to the flood. That destroyed all flesh on earth except what was in the ark with Noah.

    Scripture for Appendix A-3

Gen 6:1-8 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. 5And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. 8But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Dan 10:7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.

Dan 10:10-13 And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. 11And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. 12Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. 13But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

Luk 8:29-31 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) 30And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. 31And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

    2 Pet 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Rev 9:1-5 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 3And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 4And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 5And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.

Rev 9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Rev 9:14-15 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

Rev 12:7-10 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Rev 20:1-3 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Rev 20:7-8 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

    Appendix A-4_Lake of Fire

The Lake of fire is the final abode of the wicked, and it is empty at this time. The first occupants are the ANTICHRIST and the FALSE PROPHET who are cast into the Lake of Fire at the end of the 7-year Tribulation Period, Rev 19:11,14,19-20. Then later at the end of the 1000-year Millennial Age, Satan is also cast into the Lake of Fire, Rev 20:7-10.

Also at the end of the Millennial Age the Great White Throne Judgment takes place, where the wicked dead are raised, that is, Hades is emptied, and these together with any wicked living, are judged and then cast into the Lake of Fire, Rev 20:11-15. At the Great White Throne Judgment, the prisons for demons, that is, Tartarus, Bottomless Pit and Euphrates river are emptied. (2)... tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb... the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. They have no rest day or night..., Rev 14:9-11. (3)... cast into the lake of fire and brimstone... will be tormented day and night for ever and ever, Rev 20:10.

    Scripture for Appendix A-4

Mat 13:41-42 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 42And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Mat 13:47-50 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: 48Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. 49So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, 50And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

    2 Pet 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Rev 14:9-11 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

Rev 19:19-20 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. 20And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Rev 20:7-15 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

    Appendix A-5_Characteristics of Satan

In this discussion we show that Satan was probably the most beautiful, most powerful and highest ranking angel God created. When pride caused Satan to sin, he and his demons (fallen angels) retained many privileges not given to other demons. Most demons were imprisoned immediately to await their judgment. However, Satan and his demons retained a lot of freedom to function as they chose, but God did set limits. Consider, for example, that Satan now has access to heaven where he accuses Believers before God constantly, Rev 12:7-10 and Job 1:6. For more information,

CLICK to link to Appendix A-3 Prisons for Demons etc or Appendix A-5.5 Satan Tests the Righteous

Satan and his demons are extremely powerful beings whose sole purpose seems to be to thwart the plans of God. To some extent God allows this to happen. Jesus prayed to the Father that he would protect Believers from Satan, and we can do likewise, Joh 17:1-2, 15,20. From a human point of view it is difficult to explain this strange relationship between God and Satan. We simply have to accept it.

Consider what God has to say about Satan immediately after his creation, Eze 28:12-17: You were full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the Garden of God. Every precious stone covered you. You were the anointed guardian cherub. You were on the holy mount of God. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created until iniquity was found in you. Your heart became proud because of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your brightness. I will cast you to the earth.

Satan is an extremely powerful demon. During the last half of the 7-year Tribulation Period, the FALSE PROPHET will make an IMAGE (statue) of the ANTICHRIST. Then with the power of Satan he will give life to that IMAGE, so that it could speak and cause all who refuse to worship it to be killed, Rev 13:14-15. Thus an object made of construction materials such as wood, metal, concrete etc, is brought to life through the power of Satan.

Consider the following examples of Satan and his associates, the ANTICHRIST and FALSE PROPHET, deceiving the people here on earth:

(1)... The coming of the ANTICHRIST will be according to the work of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders. He DECEIVES those that perish, 2 The 2:6-10.

(2)... Satan who DECEIVES the whole world is cast down to the earth, Rev 12:7-9.

(3)... The FALSE PROPHET made the inhabitants of the earth worship the ANTICHRIST. He performed great wonders, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full sight of men. He DECEIVED the inhabitants of the earth, Rev 13:12-14.

(4)... But the ANTICHRIST was captured, and with him the FALSE PROPHET who did miracles. With these he had DECEIVED those who had received the mark of the ANTICHRIST and worshipped his IMAGE, Rev 19:20.

(5)... He seized the dragon, that old serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him 1000 years. He cast him into the Bottomless Pit, and set a seal upon him, to keep him from DECEIVING the nations anymore until the 1000 years were up, Rev 20:2-3.

(6)... When the 1000 years had expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to DECEIVE the nations in the 4 quarters of the earth, to gather them for battle, Rev 20:7-8.

    Appendix A-5_Characteristics of Satan

    Appendix A-5.5_Satan, Tests the Righteous

This section discusses Satan's testing of (1)... Jesus, (2)... Simon Peter, (3)... Apostle Paul and (4)... Job.

    SATAN TESTS JESUS

After being baptized Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness for forty days to be tempted by Satan. During this time he ate nothing and at the end he was hungry, Luk 4:1-2.

1... Satan tempts Jesus to turn stones into bread. This idea is rejected, Luk 4:3-4.
2... Satan shows him all the kingdoms of this world and the glory of them. All this is offered to Jesus if he will worship Satan. This is also rejected, Luk 4:5-8.
3... Satan takes Jesus up to a high part of the temple and tempts him to jump off, trusting that angels would keep him from being injured. This too was rejected, Luk 4:9-13.

    SATAN TESTS SIMON PETER

Simon is told that Satan had requested to test him, and that Jesus had prayed for him. Satan causes Simon to deny that he knew Jesus, 3 times, Luk 22:31-34.

    SATAN TESTS APOSTLE PAUL

Paul was caught up to the 3rd heaven or paradise. There he heard things which he could not repeat, 2 Cor 12: 2-4. To keep Paul humble, God allowed Satan to inflict him with a thorn in the flesh, which was apparently rather uncomfortable. Paul prayed to the Lord 3 times to have this affliction removed, but this request was not granted.

    SATAN TESTS JOB

Note in Job 1:1-3 that Job was a wealthy, righteous man.

In Job 1:6 and Rev 12:7-10 we see that Satan now has access to the presence of God.

In Job 1:8 God seems to be doing a little bragging about Job saying, "There is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and shuns evil." In Job 1:11 Satan challenges God saying, "Put forth your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face." In Job 1:12-19 God gives limited permission, and Satan proceeds to destroy all of Job's wealth, as well as kill his children and servants. In Job 1:20-22 Job responds by saying blessed be the name of the Lord.

Then in Job 2:5 Satan again challenges God saying, " Put forth your hand and touch his bones and flesh, and he will curse you to your face. " In Job 2:6-8 God again gives limited permission, and Satan proceeds to afflict Job's entire body with painful boils. Finally in Job 2:9-10 we see that Job did not curse God, even though his wife encouraged him to do so. He did not sin in what he said.

The Lord blessed the latter part of Job's life more than the first. He had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1000 yoke of oxen and 1000 donkeys. He also had 7 sons and 3 daughters. Nowhere in all the land were there found women so fair as Job's daughters, Job 42:10,12-13,15.

    ===================================================

    Scripture for Appendix A-5.1-5.5

Job 1:1-3 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. 2And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters. 3His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

Job 1:6-22 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. 7And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 8And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 9Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. 12And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. 13And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: 14And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: 15And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 16While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 17While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 18While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: 19And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 20Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, 21And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. 22In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

Job 2:5-10 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. 6And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. 7So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. 8And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes. 9Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. 10But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Job 42:12-15 So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses. 13He had also seven sons and three daughters. 14And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch. 15And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.

Eze 28:12-17 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. 13Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. 14Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. 16By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. 17Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

Luk 4:1-13 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. 3And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. 5And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 9And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: 10For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: 11And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 13And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

Luk 22:31-34 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. 33And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. 34And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

Joh 17:1-2 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Joh 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

    Joh 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

2 Cor 12:7-9 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

2 The 2:6-10 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

1 Pet 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Rev 13:11-15 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. 12And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, 14And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. 15And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Rev 20:2-3 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Rev 20:7-8 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

    Appendix A-6_Characteristics of Demons

In this discussion we show that demon possessed humans and animals always have physical and/or mental abnormalities. However, the reverse is not necessarily true, that is: Those with physical and/or mental abnormalities are always demon possessed. Question: Is having an alternate sexual preference a sign of demon possession? We know that Satan and his demons have the power to warp the minds of humans and animals, and we also know that they always attempt to thwart the plans of God up to the very limit that they are allowed by God. We also know that God abhors sexual immorality of any form. Since the sexual aspect of our being has such a strong influence over us, this is an ideal area for demons to exploit and to disrupt God's intended arrangement of human sexual relations.

Scripture for Appendix A-6.1 thru A-6.9

Mat 12:43-45 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Mar 9:25-29 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. 26And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. 27But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. 28And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? 29And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Luk 4:33-35 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, 34Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. 35And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

Luk 8:27-36 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. 28When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. 29(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. 32And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them. 33Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked. 34When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country. 35Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 36They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.

Act 16:16-18 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: 17The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. 18And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

Appendix A-7_Michael & Gabriel, Important Angels

    Appendix A-7.1_Michael, the Archangel

In Dan 10:11-13, an angel was sent to Daniel to explain certain prophecies regarding the Jewish Nation. This angel was detained 21 days by demonic group referred to as the Persian kingdom. Then Michael, one of the Chief Princes came to the rescue, after which the angel got through to Daniel.

Then in Dan 12:1, Michael is referred to as the Great Prince who protects your people (the Jewish Nation). This protection provided by Michael speaks first of the 144,000 Jews who are sealed by God in the first half of the 7-year Tribulation Period. For the rest of this 7-year period, these 144,000 will be protected from the wrath of God under the 7 seals, 7 trumpets and 7 vials, as well as from the wrath of Satan. Michael will also protect the entire Jewish Nation from Satan during the last half of the Tribulation Period. For more information,

Scripture for Appendix A-7.1 and A-7.2

Dan 8:15-16 And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man. 16And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

Dan 9:21-23 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. 22And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. 23At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

Dan 10:11-13 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent.

Dan 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Luk 1:13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

Luk 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Luk 1:19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

Luk 1:26-31 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Rev 12:7-9 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
