What's the Plan for the Wedding Week?

Erika and Chris rented a house for the week at the Beach in Rehoboth, DE.  You can see pictures of the house by clicking here .  A layout of the inside of the house is here .

Our purpose was so that we could celebrate our wedding wih friends and family in a more vacation-like atmosphere. Some of our immediate family and close friends will be staying with us in the house for the week. Other friends and family have rented other places and will also be there for the week. At this point, we expect around half of the wedding guests to actually be staying in Rehoboth for an extended period (if not the entire week). We're both very happy about this, since it will give us all a chance to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of Rehoboth and Ocean City.

For those of you who have never been to an East Coast Boardwalk town---they are unique.  Both Rehoboth and Ocean City (only a 20 minute drive from Rehoboth) have long stretches of beach with a wooden walkway that stretches for miles. The Rehoboth Boardwalk is actually a miniature version of the Ocean City Boardwalk. Along "the boards" are shops, food (mmmmmm Thrashers fries), rides, bars, etc. There is plenty do (besides swimming or laying out in the sun) for all ages.

Rehoboth is also becoming known for its Outlet Centers.  They are many within 5 minute drive of the beach. Also, Delaware has no sales tax.

So, we'll be there for the week. Our house will be open to all friends and family for the week (you can shower there (after swimming), take a nap, have a cool drink, etc.)

What's the Plan for the Day before the Wedding?

On the Wednesday before the wedding, the boys will probably go fishing. We haven't decided exactly what kind of fishing yet (pier, surf, or boat). The boys must be back by noon so that they can go get the food and supplies for the wedding.

In the morning, the girls will set up much of the house and yard for the Wedding day.

In the afternoon, the girls will do girl stuff (if you can't tell, this page was written by Chris).

We will then have a short rehearsal in the early evening (say 6pm). We will require the wedding party, family, and anyone else who is performing in the ceremony.

We will then BBQ back at the house for dinner. Burgers and Dogs are on the menu.

What's the Plan for the Day of the Wedding?

On the day of the wedding, the boys will have to get up a little on the early side to make sure the chairs are set up on the beach for the ceremony.
The girls (back at the house) will attend to whatever is needed back there.

The wedding ceremony will be on the beach, presided over by Reverend William Miller from the St. Johns United Church in Sinking Spring, PA (Chris's minister from his youth). We will have chairs set up for the guests.

After the ceremony, there will be a short picture taking session with the family.

We will then all go back to the house for a Champagne Brunch. We will have pastries, fruit, Mamosas, etc. We will also have the Champage toast. We expect the Toast to happern around 11 am.

The Wedding Party may then go out for some more pictures, while the cooks prepare for the clambake.

At 2pm, we will serve the clambake lunch.   The menu:

Shrimp
Clams (littlenecks)
Crab Cakes
Chicken
Corn on the Cob
Potatos

We will be serving beer, wine, water and a variety of non-alcoholic softdrinks.

We understand that not all of our guests will enjoy a clambake, and so we fully understand if you choose to have lunch somewhere on the Boardwalk and join us for drinks and dessert!

In the evening, we will all relax, and do some mimimal tear down (rented tables and chairs can be stacked, for example).

We may order Grotto's pizza (mmmmm) for a late dinner.
