Hi-Fi Prototype

The web visibility information visualization system that we have been working on throughout this semeser is designed as an analysis assistance tool to help the SEO analysts at Pure Visibility to propose web content strategies for its clients. The strategy proposal consist of two sets: the safe strategy and the aggressive strategy.

We designed a scenario to illustrastate where the infoviz system fits into the workflow of the SEO analysts and how it support their decision-making process.

User scenario:

1. SEO analysts leverage their well-established methodologies to analyze the word markets on the web and select a few hundreds of key words that users may use to search the products their clients sell. The key words are then grouped into 10 categories or so and kept in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets. Each category contains a certain amount of key words.

2. The infoviz system imports the data from the spreadsheet and get ready for the SEO analysts to explore the data in each category.

3. With the assistance of visualization, the analysts select top 5 to 6 important categories, and conduct in-depth analysis for each category one by one.

4. For each category, the analysts study the traffic and competitiveness of each keyword from different views in the visualization. Key moments/views are saved as the evidence to justify
the selection.

5. After the analysis, 1 or 2 keywords in each category are identified as the safe strategy, and 1 or 2 keywords are identified as the aggressive strategy.

6. After going through all of the 5 or 6 major categories, approximately 10 keywords are saved as the safe strategy, and 10 keywords are saved as the aggressive strategy. These two strategies
are the most important deliverables for their business report.

7. The analysts save all the selected keywords in "my strategy", and complete their analysis work.
