We the Jury

Charlie Gragg

This narrative section describes how I achieved advanced proficiency for Proficiency Level A, Proficiency Level D, and Proficiency Level E on the State of Michigan Seventh Standard for Entry Level Teachers. I taught a 10-lesson unit, We the Jury, over six weeks. Students used Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher, digital cameras, Internet search engines, electronic mail, and their school's networked "Handin" and "Handout" folders to complete a nearly paperless unit in an upper level Law & You class at Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan. The culminating performance assessment was a Mock School Newspaper; students integrated spreadsheets, tables, digital photographs, and graphics into a single assignment.

MCOATT Proficiency A:

Design, develop, and implement student learning activities that integrate information technology for a variety of student grouping strategies and diverse student populations.

MCOATT Proficiency D:

Demonstrate knowledge about instructional management resources that assist in such activities as writing and updating curriculum; creating lesson plans and tests; and promoting, reinforcing, and organizing data regarding student performance

MCOATT Proficiency E:

Use information technologies to support student problem solving, data collection, information management, communications, presentations, and decision making including word processing, database management, spreadsheets, and graphic utilities..
