I suggest you complain to AOL (loudly!), or use an ISP that doesn't modify emails. Message-ID: <000501be2ea2$397b15a0$4e07ed81@KevinSte> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi folks, I have more to report on the search for James Cunningham Burnett's original farm in Shelby County, Kentucky. As you read in the last message I sent, I believe that the 1882 Atlas map reference to "J.J. Burnett residence" is where the original farm was actually located, rather than the "J.C. Burnett res., spring, and cem." notation near Mt. Eden. I have found further evidence to support this conclusion. Felix Grundy Burnett, who inherited part of the original farm and purchased the rest from the other heirs, moved to Missouri between 1850 and 1853. He died in Missouri. I have discovered a copy of a deed dated March 5, 1851, in which Felix and Joanna Burnett, Samuel H. and Elizabeth (Dodd) Burnett, and Peyton R. Burnett conveyed 158 1/2 acres, and presumably the house, to their brother, James Cunningham Burnett, Jr. (husband of Permelia Shepherd). The other 194 acres was probably either kept by the family or sold to someone else. The reference to "J.J. Burnett" is to John Jay Burnett, James Cunningham Burnett Jr.'s son, who was the executor of his father's estate, and most likely lived at the residence in 1882. It is highly likely that the "J.J. Burnett res." referred to on the 1882 map is the original home of James Cunningham Burnett(1776-1839). Kevin K.
