Also a couple sites in Floyd County. So, who has gold stories in the family tree they haven't shared with the rest of us? VA I am new to the list. I, too, have a JEREMIAH BURNETT. He was bon circa 1750. In 1773, Jeremiah Burnett of Dinwiddie Co., VA bought land in Lunenburg Co. (DB12/311) He died circa 1813 Lunenburg Co. (WB7/116) His wife was MILDRED (last name unknown at this time) Children of JEREMIAH andMILDRED Burnett, FIELDING (d. 1814), SPENCER (d. 1816), FORESTER (m. Margaret Andrews), CATHERINE (m. Nyla Subj: Burnett family question Date: 98-04-02 12:16:29 EST From: jimfina@worldnet.att.net (Jim Fina) Reply-to: jimfina@worldnet.att.net To: ncreed1@aol.com I came across your name while searching for Burnett surname information. I hope you can help or can refer me to someone who might be able to help. I am a descendant of Ester Burnett (1653-1714), who married Christopher Leaming in 1674 at Southampton, Long Island. We believe she is a daughter of Thomas Burnett of Southampton, although a diary entry by a grandson (Aaron Leaming, II) claims she is the daughter of Aaron Burnett. We found a record that stated "She died at the home of Enoch Fethian, her brother in-law". He was married to Miriam Burnett, a daughter of Thomas Burnett. So if Miriam is her sister, Thomas must be her father. Aaron Burnett, a son of Thomas, was therefore her brother not her father. Given that Thomas Burnett is her father (a strong probability at this point), who is he descended from? What I have on him is: he married Mary ____ , possibly Mary Pierson, 3 Dec 1663 at Lynn Massachusetts and died in 1684 at Southampton, Long Island, NY. He had at least 8 children: John, Aaron, Lot, Miriam, Joel, Dan, Mordecai, and Matthias. Another listing included a Hester who we think is Ester, my 5th great grandmother. Is this enough to connect him back to Scotland and, would you have any sources that might confirm Ester is his daughter? I would appreciate anything you might have that would help connect Ester back to her family in Scotland. Thank you in advance.
