I have posted two of her letters (with her permission)and would like to know if anyone can answer any of her questions. We may be related! This is so exciting. I didn't think I was going to get any farther researching my family. The Elizabeth Stalcup that she refers to was listed on an 1860 census as living with Thomas Burnett. She was 78 years old at the time (est b. 1782) and she was born in North Carolina. Thank you Anne Burnett Hatter ************************************* Dear Anne, Thanks for answering my query. Yes, your Thomas H. Burnett is the one I'm looking for! I've been researching the earliest Burnett families in Williamson County, trying to determine if they are related. Do you know if Thomas Houston Burnett had any relatives in the area, such as James R. Burnett or William A. J. Burnett? Do you know if Drury Moseley's wife, Millie Burnett Moseley, was connected to Thomas Burnett? Do you know how Elizabeth Stalcup fits into Thomas H. Burnett's family? Any information about Thomas would be helpful. Joanne Clarida ********************************** Dear Anne, I'll mail you what I have on Thomas and John H.Burnett. I'm not a descendant of Thomas H. Burnett, but I believe that James R. Burnett and Thomas H. Burnett may be brothers. Theory only! They bought land adjoining each other, and Elizabeth Stalcup is buried very close to James R. and Mary J. Burnett in Coal Bank Springs Cemetery. James R. and Mary J. Burnett came from Smith Co. TN to Williamson County about 1848, much later than Thomas H. Burnett. Stalcup is a name that pops up as witnesses on wills executed by Mary J.'s family (McMurry>Douglas>DeBow of Smith Co. TN) I don't find connections to William A. J. Burnett's family, but I'm looking at all the possibilities, including some families in Saline Co. IL. Did you know the Parks family came from Wilson Co TN, next door to Smith Co? In fact, a lot of the Rock Creek and Crab Orchard Twp, Williamson Co IL, families came from that "same neck of the woods", including my Clarida family. My ggrandmother was the daughter of James R. and Mary J. Burnett. Her name was Mary Elizabeth Burnett, b. 1852, married 30 April, 1874 to Thomas Clarida, b. 1844.
