I know we had a serious discussion about this family and feel certain someone has all the information. Nyla ====== Subj: Turner/Burnett Date: 02/23/2000 4:45:40 PM Pacific Standard Time From: jspencer@se-tel.com (Jim Spencer) To: NCreed1@aol.com I am looking for the parents of a John TURNER, there were many John's, b. in the mid to late 1770s in probably VA d: 1843 Floyd County, KY. md: Nancy "Fanny" Burnett b: 1779 in VA., daughter of William Burnett. There was a John Turner and Nancy Burnett that got married in Patrick County in 1804 but this is two different people. William migrated from Patrick County, Virginia to Floyd County, Kentucky in 1818. John and Nancy arrived in Floyd County, Kentucky in 1823. Nancy's sister was Elizabeth Burnett that married John Tuggle, Jr. in Patrick County. I would think that John was born in, at that time, Henry, or possibly Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Does anyone show a John Turner in a family where there is no other information, or a John Turner that moved from Virginia. John and Nancy had the following children, of which the first 4 were born in Patrick County, Virginia - based on marriage records, and oral history. Census records show the first 4 were born in Virginia: 1. Adam TURNER b: 1812 Patrick Co., VA. Named children William Jefferson, Samuel and Richard. 2. Elizabeth TURNER b: 1815 Patrick Co., VA. Named a child Hannah. 3. Judith TURNER b: 1818 Patrick Co., VA. Named a child Catherine. 4. William TURNER b: 1820 Patrick Co., VA. Never married. 5. John Burke "Burks" TURNER b: 11 May 1824 Floyd Co., KY. Named a child Darbin. 6. Greenville "Green" TURNER b: 13 May 1827 Floyd Co., KY. Named children, Andrew, Thomas Jefferson, and Tandy. 7. Alexander TURNER b: 13 May 1827 Floyd Co., KY. Named children Joel, and Frederick. 8. Morgan TURNER b: 12 July 1831 Floyd Co., KY. Named a child Elkanah. 9. Israel TURNER b: 1834 Floyd Co., KY. Any information concerning this John Turner would be greatly appreciated. /s/Jim Spencer jspencer@se-tel.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2000 10:51:53 EST From: NCreed1@aol.com To: BTRVETC-L@genealogy.org Subject: Obit for Ralph H Burnett - Mount Hope, Fayette Co WV Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit This was on the Raleigh Register, Beckley, WV, online obituaries.
