All our compilations have been archived on her web site. If you think you're missing any of the compilations, take a look at her web site. They are all there. (See her message below for the address.) I would suggest that you take a look at the info that you've shared on your family. If you want to add more, send me an update. Welcome to all our new folks. We are up to 35 now and still growing. Nyla ============================================ Subj: Files are on the web page ... Date: 96-03-02 12:24:30 EST From: cgaunt@umich.edu (Christine E. Gaunt) To: NCreed@aol.com (Nyla Creed DePauk) Hi, Nyla, I've put the compilation files on my web site at the following URL: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~cgaunt/etc/etc.html Often the directories give a better indication of what's in them. If our group had a name, I'd use that. Maybe BurnTurn? PatrickCoVA? There is that Allied Families association, but since I'm not a member, I'd hesitate to call it that. I called it etc after your subject line. :-) I did reformat some of the messages that had long lines. I wasn't sure how they would appear on the web (probably ok, but I didn't want to take any chances). Most of them were from Ross Chapell. I can only check them using lynx; tell me how they look. The messages that had info imported from genealogy programs did look funny using lynx, but I sure wasn't going to reformat those! As for the notes, comments you now have on file I would be interested in them if they connect to my Zachariah Burnett. Any way to identify? Or do I get all. I am also forwarding your message to Nyla Creed DePauk, who also has been following this surname and the TURNER surname through an informal working group. I hope this helps. He supposedly fought in the Revolutionary War. He had a son named Adam, who is my ancestor. I don't know anything about Adam. Does anyone in your group have any data? I would appreciate any help. I am so glad you proofread everything so closely. (I bet you say that about me, too.) Well, my first thought is that there is something grossly wrong. I'll have to do some checking on this. But I bet I've added information to the wrong record. Back later. Who is knowledgable about Henry and Franklin Co VA history for late 1700 to 1850? ??????????????????????? > One book, I think it is Dr. Wood,s book on Floyd Co, VA, says that Constantine, as well as Thomas, is the son of Josiah. This book is usually very correct on the Turners, b/c the man who contributed his knowledge of Turners was a Turner cousin and was himself born in 1849. He either knew them or knew of them with only a few years removed. However, the information on the first generation of Turners in Franklin Co tends to be completely wrong, so I don't think he is necessarily a good resource for this first generation. > On the other hand, Marvin Raney, author of the Raney collection, and usually quite reliable, says Constantine is the son of John & Elizabeth. If I were to base my conclusions solely on the credibility of these two authors, I would certainly go with Raney. But it's never that easy, is it? There is has been other research done on John & Elizabeth, from very good and reliable researchers, for example, O. E. Pilson, who is probably the most knowledgeable Turner researcher. Constantine is not listed among the children of John & Elizabeth on the Pilson Family Group Sheets. So, who is Constantine's father? > Deborah L.
