Burnett may have been the eldest son of my gggrandfather, Capt. William Wiltshire Burnett, CSA ("Buck") I hope so, because you would be the closest cousin I have found so far. All I know about J.W. Burnett is that he was PROBABLY born in Tenn on Carter's Creek, near Columbia Tenn in Williamson County, which is where MY grandfather was born (Joseph Lee Burnett b. 1872, d. 1934 Birmingham, Al). The family is a very old one from Virginia (WW Burnett was born and married in Dinwiddie County, Va.) JW's mother was MARGARET J. ROUNTREE also originally from Va. He was married twice: once to Anna PORTER and I do not know the other wife's name. Brothers and sisters, besides my grandfather, Joseph Lee Burnett: Walter Wiltshire Burnett who m. Ora Anderson Fred Burnett who m. Blanche Hill Frances Burnett Mary Campbell Burnett If you think this is your James W. (what was the W. for? Wilthsire? Winfield?) Do let me know if you think this is your Burnett line. I have A HUGE amount to share.
