BURNETT and Burk BURNETT were cousins, but since I have been unable to find the connecting father to connect these two families together, I'm hoping someone will see this and provide the missing link. I have seen mention of Jeremiah Burnett and Samuel Burnett in your compilations. Glenda ========================================================== GLENDA: I didn't receive part I. Nyla ============================================================= The Descendants of JEREMIAH BURNETT * - * Compiled By Glenda Subyak 1997 Reading This Book If, while reading the following pages of this book, the reader will keep these few facts in mind, a much clearer understanding of the contents will result. The format or style used in this book is known as the Modified Register System, which has been refined by the National Genealogical Society. Three types of numbers are used: one to uniquely identify the individual, one to indicate the generation into which that person falls, and one to denote his or her birth-order within the nuclear family. The identification numbering system used in this book is called By Descendants, in Sequential Order. The starting person is 1, his first child is 2, his first child's first child is 3, and so on. After all the descendants of the first child are listed, then the descendants of the second child are listed, and so on until 7 generations. The ID numbers are in sequential order. When an individual is introduced in his/her separate sketch, the name appears in boldface letters with the surnames in all capital letters. The name is preceded by the identification number. The last given name is followed immediately by a superscript number indicating the number of generations from the starting individual in this book. When the list of children is presented, the plus (+) sign indicates that more about this child will be presented in his/her separate sketch. The ID number is printed, followed by M/F indicating the sex. Next a small roman numeral in front of the name designates birth-order. Next the name is followed by the birth and death dates. The term "Spouse" may have several different meanings: husband, wife, partner, mate, parent, or significant other. The couple involved may not be legally married. The term "stepchild" may have several different meanings: the child may be a stepchild, adopted child, foster child, or just raised in the home. If there are any other children of the spouse, they will be designated as stepchildren. The index is arranged alphabetically by surname. Under each surname, the given names are alphabetically arranged. The number to the right indicates the page where this name appears. The wife appears under her maiden name and under her married names with her maiden name in parentheses. I am descended from Susan Webster Rangeley who married Dr. Robert Bolling Dandridge of the Horsepasture community/district of Henry Co. Susan W. Rangeley was from Stuart, Patrick Co. I am also descended from Lucy A. Turner and her husband John Fontaine Lovell. Lucy A. Turner's parents were William H. Turner and Margaret McGhee. Wiliam H. Turner's father was A.H.Turner. I would be particularly grateful for some help with my Turner line - most/almost all of what I have comes from notes my Mother took some 20 years ago. Thanks for your help. After reading everyone's descent of Samuel the belief seems that it was Elizabeth Turner. I had failed to update my group sheet. Would you please change my email to you. Samuuel's letter refers to 'Mother Turner' and supports Elizabeth Turner as his wife. Linda tlmart@cascade.net Nyla- I was excited after receiving "Compilation #121" and reading the Samuel Packwood letter dated 1811. The Packwood family is my husband's line, but I do the research. His descent is: Samuel and Elizabeth (Tate) Packwood Elisha and Mary 'Polly' (Burnett) Packwood John Ira and Abigail (Tinder) Packwood Malinda and Emille Pierre Gaillac Eliva Judith and C.J. Ogden Herbert and Susan (Caswell) Ogden I am interested in discovering more about the Packwood's and particularly John Ira Packwood. John was in Washington Territory in 1845, then into California about 1849 settling at Coloma near Sutter's Mill. John had a ferry on the American River, Eldorado Co., California during the Gold Rush. John eventually moved to Barry Co, Missouri and died there in 1879. I understand you are moving to San Diego. You will like it there. I spent my high school years there. My Dad still lives there. I am up the road a piece, living about 12 miles from Disneyland. Maybe we can talk by phone when you get settled. I get down to see Dad about once a month. We have some wonderful libraries in the area. I hope you will enjoy them. And the national archives are about an hour and a half's drive to the north. There is a lovely FHC there in San Diego also. You will have to get used to heavy traffic. Only drawback to CA. Now for the VIA's. I am hot on the trail of William Monroe VIA, my great grandfather and Charles VIA, my gg grandfather. I have copies of both of their marriage records coming in from Kanawha Co. WV. Hopefully both records will give me the counties these gentlemen were born in. Then to those counties for birth records. I won't give up till I find them. I have a feeling I am going to end up in Albemarle Co., VA. I have purchased the marriage records from 1780-1853, and there are lots of VIA's in those books. You may tell the group that I have these books and will do look ups for them. I bought them for that reason. So many people have helped me when I first got started that I feel this is the least I can do to help others. I also have found the birth record of Nancy Jane BURDETTE, who married William Monroe VIA. Plus the birth record of her brother, Henry F. BURDETTE. I am really excited over this. I am hoping that the lists will be up soon. I have several names that I need to join their lists. Time for me to scoot. Take care and please stay in touch. Sincerely, Sandy Spradling ======================================================== The end of this compilation.
