She may be a daughter of the Burnetts who were living in Amherst CO VA ca 1780, some of this family migrated ca 1808 to Estille CO KY. thanks Yolanda in California ============================================== Everyone, The following announcement about the Nolen reunion is from MDNolen@aol.com: The Nolen reunion is an annual affair, held on the first Sat in June. It is only a one-day affair. In the past two years it has been coordinated by W. B. Nolen and Bob Greer. Their addrsses are W. B. Nolen, 3028 Thomas Jefferson Road, Forest, VA 24551 (804-385-4390) and Robert Greer, PO Box 4589, Lynchburg, VA 24502 (804-358-6339). This year's reunion will be held at the West Salem Baptist Church in Salem VA (a suburb of Roanoke). I do not yet have the exact time it starts on Sat. The theme for this year's reunion is to gather exact details on the descendents of Issac A. Nolen/Judith Turner and Alexander Nowlin/Louisa S. Nolen. We will then enter the collected info into the database, which hopefully we can find a way to make more widely available over the Internet. One of the responses I got was from Jojo1953, telling me to get in touch with you and that you might be able to help me. My maternal great grandparents were William Monroe VIA, (b. Abt 1871 in Tazewell, VA, d. Dec 4, 1941 in Elkview, WV) married Nancy Jane BURDETTE, (b. Abt 1877, location unknown, d. October 5, 1917 in Charleston, WV). Marriage date and place unknown. William parents are reported to be Charley VIA and Emily Ann ? I would like to know about their ancestors. They are listed in the 1910 census in Kanawha County, WV with their 5 children, Lewis, Luther, Etta, Bessie and my grandmother, Nelle Florence. I hope you can help me. I've been so busy getting involved in my research again and I've had so much help from everyone in the group. I've been trying to see what I might be able to contribute back. The book Meshack Turner 111 His Wife Sarah Robey Tucker by Lucille R. Maddox 1976 has a good history of the Turner family. On one of the last pages Ms. Maddox talks about a letter she was shown by a descendant of The Shadrack Turner family. It was written by Samuel Packwood who was married to one of Shadracks' daughters, Elizabeth. In the letter he mentions several family members as well as giving a glimpse as to what life was like then. Ms. Maddox chose not to print a copy of the letter in her book. However, when I started doing research 11 years ago, I was given a copy of the letter by another Turner descendant. If you think there would be enough interest in the letter, I would be glad to type it and send it in for anyone who may be interested. I don't want to just send it in because it is fairly long and my typing skills leave something to be desired. (takes me forever to type something). Let me know, or post it to see if anyone might be interested. By the way I used to live in Vienna on and off when I was growing up. We lived near Cedar Lane Elem. School and Thoreau Junior High. The last time we passed through town I could hardly believe how much Maple Ave. has changed! Sherry =============================================== SHERRY: I for one would certainly be interested in reading the letter if you're willing to type it. Any one else interested? If you pass through Vienna again, stop in and see me. I live off Cedar Lane. Small world.
