I know little about John. I know he married bef 1795 when his first child was born, but do not know who he married. The following are his known children; Steven, Mary "Polly", Alexander, James C, Dempsey, George C, and Joseph. All John's children were born in SC. John followed his sons to FL and I believe he died there, but have no proof at this time. He may have died around 1860's. Some of his children were in the following states; SC, AL, GA, and TX. James and some of his brothers were in Laurens CO, GA as early as 1815. He and some of his brothers married there in Early CO, GA and by 1825 moved to AL and about 1830 moved on to Walton CO, FL where he had received a land grant for serving in the Creek Indian War. Again several of his brothers and his father followed him there. Before his last son was born he had moved the faimly to Leon CO, TX. James and Mary's known children were; Alexander, Elizabeth Jane, John, Dempsey, Rutha, Joseph A., Sarah, Caroline, Dicy Ann, Clem Fennell, Henry C. and one unknown child. Hope we can connect. However, I know there were Turner here in Middle Tennessee early 1800s. My interest is in two Turner from VA/NC early 1700s. Lazarus Turner received land grants c.1730 on North Side of Neuse River in what is now Lenior County, NC. I am looking for a Crawford and/or Raiford connection with him. This area of NC has many lost records and the three/four land entries are all I have been able to find on Lazarus Turner. My ggg grandfather was Lazarus Crawford, b.c. 1740 who had land on South Side of Neuse River in what is now Johnston Co. NC. 2nd Interest: Edward and Martha Bobbitt Steagall who mar. c.1820 named a son Thomas Turner Steagall. Martha's father was Turner Bobbitt... therefore, I am looking for the Thomas Turner connection.. There is an Isle of Wight deed early 1700s involving a Thomas Turner and Robert Raiford and his wife. A witness was a Pearce. (Pearce also appear in the Bobbitt/Steagall family) I would like to learn more about Thomas "Isle of Wight" Turner and would be interested in receiving information on any will/estate records which exist for him. So, as you can see, I am on the "edge" of Turner research, but hoping a find may lead me through a maze of burned county records. good luck and much success in your research. Cornelia B. I have on the 1860 Alabama Census listed: Joel C. Hisaw (Hisan, Hison) married age 42 listed born in GA enumerated in Fayette County pg #393 Listed in his household: MAHALA R. F age 27 We assume his wife they possibly married Gwinette Co., GA Nathaniel C. M age 7 their son Joel C. M age 4 their son William M age 1 their son Also enumerated with this family....... PERMELA W. TURNER F age 38 MALISSA TURNER F age 15 PERMELA E TURNER F age 13 Mahala's parents were supposedly born in GA according to the 1880 Scott Co., AR Census. This family moved to Scott Co., AR prior to the 1870 census and Permela Turner and her daughters were not enumerated with them there. They may have stayed in Fayette County, or moved in with other relatives or remarried. Due to the TURNER family living with them we assume that Mahala is a TURNER and it is her mother and sisters. This is an assumption only. No proof as of yet! ANY information on this family GREATLY appreciated! I am researching, in the Franklin, Henry, Patrick and Floyd Counties, the surnames of TURNER, INGRAM, SNEAD, NOWLIN, HATCHER, WILLIS, THOMAS and JORDAN. On some of these lines I have lots of information to share and on others I am still looking. I was born and grew up in Pittsylvania County (Danville, VA) and am now living in Nashville, TN. I would like very much to subscribe to your newsletter and hope to contribute as well as receive!! Please let me know the best way to send info to you - do you accept .txt files as attachments to your email and is there a limitation on the size of file you can receive? If so, I can run some descendancy files and get them to you. Eddie Vaden evaden@ncsn.net ================================================= The end of this compilation.
